Assistant Director – Early Childhood Education and Care

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Director to join our leadership team at our 90-place MindChamps service in Warriewood .
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced early childhood professional who is ready to take the next step in their leadership career and work closely with the Centre Director to support the successful day-to-day operation of a large, high-quality early learning service.

Your Role as Assistant Director
As the Assistant Director, you will play a key leadership role within our 90-place Warriewood service , working closely with the Centre Director to oversee the day-to-day operations, educational quality, compliance, team performance, and overall experience of children and families.
You will provide strong leadership and support to educators and room leaders, promote a positive workplace culture, and help ensure the service consistently meets the highest standards of education, care, safety, wellbeing, and compliance.
You will also act as a key point of contact for educators and families and support the Centre Director with the effective management and continuous improvement of the service.

Your Role as Assistant Director
As the Assistant Director, you will play a key leadership role within our 90-place Warriewood service , working closely with the Centre Director to oversee the day-to-day operations, educational quality, compliance, team performance, and overall experience of children and families.
You will provide strong leadership and support to educators and room leaders, promote a positive workplace culture, and help ensure the service consistently meets the highest standards of education, care, safety, wellbeing, and compliance.
You will also act as a key point of contact for educators and families and support the Centre Director with the effective management and continuous improvement of the service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Partner with the Centre Director to lead the day-to-day operations of our 90-place service.
- Lead, inspire, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of educators and Room Leaders.
- Drive high-quality education and care aligned with the EYLF, NQF, and NQS.
- Support curriculum quality, educational practice, and continuous improvement across the service.
- Oversee staffing, rostering, compliance, and daily operational priorities.
- Build strong, positive relationships with children, families, and the wider team.
- Support staff onboarding, performance, development, and professional growth.
- Champion child safety, wellbeing, inclusion, and quality outcomes.
- Contribute to the QIP and lead initiatives that strengthen service quality and performance.
- Support the Centre Director with compliance, incidents, family matters, and service leadership.
- Step into the Centre Director role when required, providing confident and consistent leadership.
- Lead by example and bring MindChamps' values, professionalism, and passion for early learning to everything you do.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a passionate, experienced , and motivated early childhood professional who is ready to take the next step in their leadership journey.
This position is ideally suited to an experienced Assistant Director who has demonstrated leadership capability and a solid understanding of the operation of an early childhood service.
Experience working within a larger service or multi-room environment will be highly regarded.
You will have:
- A Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
- Demonstrated experience in an early childhood education and care environment.
- Previous leadership experience, preferably as an Assistant Director.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), National Quality Framework (NQF), National Quality Standards (NQS), and relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated understanding of service operations, compliance, staffing, and quality improvement.
- Strong knowledge of child protection and mandatory reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, coach, and support educators.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive and respectful relationships with children, families, educators, and colleagues.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands in a busy early learning environment.
- A proactive, solutions-focused, and collaborative approach to leadership.
- The ability to work confidently both independently and as part of a leadership team.
- Experience contributing to Quality Improvement Plans and continuous improvement initiatives.
- A current Working With Children Check (WWCC).
- Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis certificates.
- Current child protection training, including mandatory reporting requirements.
- Willingness to undergo a Police Check.
- A genuine passion for children's learning, development, safety, and wellbeing.
- A commitment to professional excellence, continuous learning, and positive outcomes for children.
