VET/VCE apprenticeships/traineeships coordination, Facilities and OHS Management

Selection Criteria

Role

Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions.Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.

Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal.Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school.Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.

Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor.Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

Responsibilities

A. VET, Apprenticeships and Traineeships Coordination

Student Career, Pathway and Employment Support

- Provide individualised career, pathway and employment support (one-on-one and group), with a focus on VM students seeking apprenticeships, traineeships, SBATs or full-time work.
- Help students identify suitable pathways, training and employment options based on their interests, skills and goals.
- Support students considering leaving school, working with families, Assistant Principals and Year Level Coordinators on alternative pathways.
- Assist with resumes, application letters, key selection criteria, interview prep and employer communication.
- Support disengaged students and families toward positive pathway outcomes.

VET Program Coordination, Administration and Compliance

- Coordinate VET enrolment, assessment, record-keeping and reporting.
- Coordinate school-delivered VET, including internal delivery.
- Manage MOUs with RTOs and liaise with schools in the VET cluster/association.
- Provide enrolment/assessment data to the VASS Coordinator; maintain compliance records.
- Prepare the annual VET budget and track expenditure.

Employer, Industry, RTO and GTO Engagement

- Build relationships with employers and industry to source apprenticeship, traineeship,



SBAT and employment opportunities.
- Liaise with RTOs on results, attendance, progress and completion issues; advocate for students.
- Liaise with GTOs on SBAT/apprenticeship/traineeship placements and ongoing support.
- Monitor and regularly visit student work placements.
- Liaise with tertiary/VET partners and deliver pathway information sessions.

Stakeholder, Community and School Engagement

- Represent VET/pathways at Careers Expos, Course Advice Evenings, Information Nights and Subject Selection Days.
- Organise VET Orientation/Information Days; keep the school community updated.
- Work with VCE/Year Level Coordinators and Assistant Principals for coordinated senior school pathway support.
- Support Study Centre supervision as needed
- Undertake other VET, pathways and student support duties as directed by the Principal.

B. Maintenance/Facilities/OHS Management/Nominee

·Have working knowledge of and ensure that theOHS Act is complied with.

·Ensure DET policies are complied with and kept up to date. (OHS Management System in Schools).

OHS Planning: -

·Work closely with DET, Workplace Manager, HSRs, WorkSafe, Return to Work Coordinator, LAHs, Business Managers, First Aid Officers, and HC staff to ensure the workplace is as safe as possible (OHS Act)

·Ensure OHS calendar is adhered to and regularly updated.

OHS Consultation and Communication: -

·Update OHS Notice Board on a regular basis.

·Ensure there is an OHS committee who meets at least once a term.

·Chair the OHS committee and deliver minutes to HC.

·Communication Training Record Keeping

oOHS Newsletters and Briefings

oOHS Training Plan/Register

oCourse Enrolments

oWritten Correspondence

oAttendance Certificate/records

·Communicating HSR nominations (when due)

OHS Risk Management: -

·Ensure HC Risk management is complied with (including)

Emergency & Critical Incident Management: -

·Ensure/organise emergency drills are completed at least every term, and everyone knows their roles and responsibilities.

Contractors & Volunteers OHS Management: -

·Ensure contractors/volunteers comply with policies and are inducted and hold WWC (including)

oEnsure Contractors/Volunteers Register is regularly updated.

oEnsure Risk Assessments are completed.

oFollow up all Contractors Insurance, Permits and SWMS as required.

oEndeavour to keep all communications and consultations with Contractors/Volunteers.

Maintenance/Facilities Management

·Ensure/Oversee that all maintenance requests, OHS routine maintenance checks/repairs are completed.

·Ensure faulty equipment is replaced/fixed in a timely manner.

·Ensure equipment is maintained/serviced/tested as required.
