About us:

The Child Development Service is a community based, multidisciplinary, paediatric early intervention allied health service. The service provides integrated and holistic assessment, brief intervention/transitional supports and referral for children aged 0-16 years with complex developmental needs and their families across two distinct service streams: 0-5y Child Development Service (CDS) and 5-16y Paediatric Allied Health Team (PAHT).

About your opportunity:

The focus of this role is to deliver high level, contemporary, evidence informed Occupational Therapy assessment, short term transitional supports and referrals to long term supports eg. the National Disability Insurance Scheme, for children with developmental delay/disability and their families utilising a child and family centred framework. This role also provides leadership and mentoring to support growth of capability in paediatric Occupational Therapy and transdisciplinary paediatric practice within the Child Development Service and across the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service as required.

About your role:

- Utilise high level Occupational Therapy paediatric knowledge, expertise, clinical decision making and risk management skills to provide safe and efficient service delivery on a daily basis within a multidisciplinary / transdisciplinary team,



with infrequent need for direct clinical practice supervision.
- Lead Occupational Therapy and other clinical projects and research activities within the Child Development Service and contribute to other programmes as requested.
- Apply professional judgement with high level case management skills to support a complex caseload independently adapting routine clinical practice based on valid and reliable evidence to establish and deliver efficient and effective client-centred services.
