Who we are
This role is within the Digital and Technology Services (DTS) Branch which provides leadership in the design, development and operation of digital and technology services for the ACMA and its stakeholders. The Branch works in a partnership model with all ACMA divisions to ensure their unique technology requirements are fit for purpose. The Branch provides a full service model that incorporates all Digital and Technology functions. This includes ICT security, first contact customer service, information management and digital literacy, maintaining ICT system availability and operations, project management and governance services. The Branch provides architectural approval and authority to operate over the systems used by the ACMA.
The Digital Use and Adoption Section is part of the DTS branch. The section manages the ACMA’s information and records; collaborative working environments; website service standards and end user needs; and projects to improve staff digital literacy. The objective of the section’s work is to maximise the effectiveness and efficiency of the ACMA’s digital environment, with a focus on information management as a key enabler of improving productivity.
About the role
The Information Management (IM) Team plays a central role in ensuring the ACMA’s information is managed as a reliable and accessible record of the ACMA’s business activities.
The IM team supports records management across the full lifecycle,
from system capture and day-to-day use through to storage, access and long-term preservation. The work spans four key areas:
- recordkeeping systems and tools, including Content Manager
- records governance and practical advice to staff
- coordinating whole-of-government reporting activities.
The role requires a high-performing APS6 Records Management Officer who can operate with limited direction, exercise sound judgement in complex records and information management matters, understand and interpret legislation and policy and provide practical guidance to staff, stakeholders and team members.
You will administer Content Manager, the ACMA’s official recordkeeping system; advise on other digital recordkeeping systems; manage our offsite records storage contract; and provide advice to strengthen recordkeeping practices, including supporting the effective design, implementation and continuous improvement of information management processes.
The key duties of the position include:
- Deliver and maintain best-practice records management services across physical and digital environments.
- Administer Content Manager as the ACMA’s official recordkeeping system, including managing and supporting system users, and providing quality control and assurance.
- Provide advice on recordkeeping lifecycle obligations, including compliance, risk and appropriate handling practices.
- Apply legislation,
standards and policy in operational and governance contexts.
- Analyse recordkeeping practices and deliver process improvements that strengthen compliance with record management requirements.
- Develop and maintain records management policies, procedures and guidance.
- Promote good recordkeeping practices through training and stakeholder engagement.
- Apply information security, privacy, and confidentiality requirements while supporting access, permissions, control and disposal processes.
- Manage priorities and deliver quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.
Eligibility
To be eligible for employment with ACMA, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
The successful candidate will also be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance . More information on the security clearance vetting process is available on the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) website.

Suitable candidates will be placed in a merit pool from this selection process and may be used to fill similar ongoing roles in other areas of ACMA. Non-ongoing opportunities may be offered as a specified term.
