Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV)

Manly Road 24 Hr Veterinary Hospital (MRVH) is seeking Vet Techs/Nurses who are interested in expanding their skills. We are a practice that is committed to providing round the clock, high-quality care to our patients and excellent service to our clients.

MRVH is a large, privately owned, multi-faceted Veterinary Hospital providing a range of medical and surgical services including ophthalmology, preventative care, emergency care, orthopaedics, dental health, ultrasonography, endoscopy, and clinical pathology.

Our team enjoys a diverse caseload spanning general practice, complex medical conditions and emergency cases, along with the rewarding experience of managing most patients from start to finish.

Responsibilities:

- Monitoring and documenting patient vital signs during procedures and recovery.
- Surgical preparation, anaesthesia monitoring and post-operative care.
- Place IV catheters and blood collection for surgical, hospital and ER patients.
- Performing laboratory tests, including bloodwork, urinalysis, faecal examinations and progesterone testing.
- Assisting veterinarians in ER consultations, examinations, surgeries and other medical procedures (including x-ray, ultrasounds).
- Triaging emergency patients and wildlife as required.
- Administering medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
- Conducting TPRs and maintaining accurate medical records.
- Educating and providing guidance to clients on pet care and treatments.

Ideal Candidates:

- Bachelor of Applied Science (Veterinary Technology) or equivalent.
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
- Cert III with industry experience studying to complete their Cert IV.
- Willing to be flexible with rosters.
- Proficiency in animal handling and restraint techniques.
- Excellent communications skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
