Position Summary

We are seeking a proactive and tech-savvy individual to join our team as a Trade Assistant to oversee and maintain an automated freight handling system. The ideal candidate will be someone who is not only technically proficient but also possesses the soft skills necessary to provide exceptional support. This role requires a unique blend of technical know-how, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills.

The position will include duties such as but will not be limited to:

Operate Automated Sortation Machinery

Ensure smooth and efficient operation of automated machinery in a fast-paced environment.

Routine Maintenance

Perform regular cleaning and upkeep to ensure machinery is in optimal working condition.

Conduct regular checks for worn-out or failed parts and replace them as needed.

Troubleshooting and Fault Resolution

Identify and troubleshoot faults,



coordinating with engineering support and mechanical/electrical trades to resolve issues promptly.

Shift Coordination

Work closely with shift managers and supervisors to ensure seamless shift operations.

About you

- Experience with automated machinery (preferred but not required—training will be provided).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a proactive problem-solving approach.
- TAFE Engineering Certificate(advantageous, but not essential)
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage time effectively.
- Good communication skills for working with teams and coordinating repairs.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining safety standards.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently and think critically
- Transparent and concise communication skills in explaining technical issues to non-technical users
- A strong willingness to continuously learn about new technologies and improve skills
