We're looking for an enthusiastic and people-focused People & Culture Executive to join our team at Mercure Townsville. This is an exciting chance for an emerging People & Culture professional who is ready to broaden their experience and build a career in a supportive, fast-paced setting.
In this broad generalist role, you'll support the full employee lifecycle and work closely with leaders and team members across the business. From recruitment and onboarding through to employee engagement, learning and development, and day-to-day HR activities, you'll help deliver a positive employee experience while building your skills across all facets of People & Culture.
You’ll play an important role in fostering an inclusive, engaged and high-performing workplace while continuing to develop your HR knowledge and capability.
As the People & Culture Executive, you will be the primary on-site People & Culture representative, supporting all areas of human resources including:
- Recruitment and talent acquisition
- Employee onboarding and induction
- Performance management and employee relations with support from La Vie's People team
- Learning and development initiatives
- Workforce planning and reporting
- Employee engagement and wellbeing programs
- Workplace Health & Safety (WHS)
- HR administration and compliance
You will work closely with the General Manager and broader leadership team, with guidance and support from the Director of People & Culture at La Vie Hotels & Resorts, to deliver people initiatives that support business goals and enhance the employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Manage end-to-end recruitment processes
- Coordinate onboarding and induction programs
- Build talent pipelines and support workforce planning
- Partner with managers to attract and retain top talent
Employee Relations & Performance
- Support managers with performance management processes
- Provide guidance on employee relations matters
- Assist with investigations, grievance resolution and workplace issues
- Support succession planning and talent development initiatives
Culture & Engagement
- Drive employee engagement and recognition programs
- Coordinate team member events and communication initiatives
- Promote wellbeing, diversity and inclusion activities
- Foster a positive and collaborative workplace culture
HR Operations & Compliance
- Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and workplace policies
- Support payroll administration and reporting requirements
- Coordinate audits, compliance activities and process improvements
- Support the rollout of recent HRIS
Workplace Health & Safety
- Support WHS initiatives and compliance programs
- Coordinate injury management and return-to-work processes
- Assist with incident investigations and safety reporting
- Promote a proactive safety culture across the business
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- 2-3 years' experience in Human Resources, People & Culture or a similar role
- Sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Fair Work requirements and Hospitality Industry General Award
- Experience across recruitment, employee relations and performance management
- Strong communication, relationship-building and influencing skills
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- High levels of professionalism and confidentiality
- Experience working in Hospitality, tourism or service industry experience is desirable
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline is desirable
- Experience using HRIS and Microsoft Office applications
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic workplace
