Prefer fewer hours? We are also open to a permanent part-time arrangement of approximately 30 hours per week across the same Friday to Tuesday roster, with salary pro rata.

We’re looking for areliable, hands‑on Handyperson / Grounds Maintenance person to take care of the many day‑to‑day jobs that keep the Full Moon Hotel property, gardens and facilities looking good and working as they should.

This isnot just a gardening role and it isn't just maintenance . One day you might be repairing and painting, the next maintaining gardens, using cleaning machinery, helping in the cellar or sorting out one of the many small jobs that come with a large, busy property.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys that variety, can work independently and takes genuine pride in a job well done.

The roster

The full‑time position is38 hours per week, Friday to Tuesday , including:

Saturday –6-hour shift

Sunday – 6-hour shift





Wednesday & Thursday – days off

The early starts mean much of the grounds and maintenance work can be completed before the hotel becomes busy.

What you'll be doing

Your day may include:

- Routine repairs and general maintenance throughout the hotel and surrounding property
- Minor repairs, patching, painting and general upkeep
- Maintaining lawns, gardens and landscaped areas
- Planting, pruning, watering and caring for plants
- Keeping grounds, outdoor areas and service areas clean and tidy
- Applying fertilisers, herbicides and insecticides as required
- Safely handling and working with chemicals
- Operating cleaning, gardening and maintenance machinery
- Spotting maintenance issues and taking care of smaller jobs before they become bigger ones
- Assisting with cellar duties and stock movement
- General cleaning and upkeep of back‑of‑house and external areas
- Helping with the many other practical jobs that come up around a busy hotel property

The person we're looking for

More than anything, we are looking for someone who isdependable, trustworthy, practical and takes pride in their work .

You’ll probably suit this role if you:

- Like working with your hands and being outdoors
- Have experience in maintenance, gardening, property maintenance, caretaking or another practical hands‑on role




- Are comfortable working independently without needing someone to constantly direct you
- Have good common sense and practical problem‑solving skills
- Notice when something needs attention and take the initiative to sort it out
- Are comfortable using tools, garden equipment and machinery
- Can safely work with chemicals and follow WHS procedures
- Are physically capable of safely completing the manual and outdoor requirements of the role
- Are reliable and comfortable with 6:00am starts and a Friday to Tuesday roster

You do not need to be a qualified tradesperson. Practical ability, reliability and the right attitude are just as significant to us.

A relevant trade qualification is highly regarded and may determine the applicable HIGA classification.

Aforklift licence would also be useful, but isn't essential.

About Full Moon Hotel

Full Moon Hotel is a large, busy, family‑owned and operated hotel overlooking Moreton Bay in Sandgate.

Our property includes restaurants, bars, function spaces, gaming, retail operations, gardens, outdoor areas and extensive back‑of‑house facilities — which means there is always something that needs maintaining.

Many of our team have been with us for years, and we're looking for someone who will take real ownership of this role and become the person we can rely on to help keep the place in great shape.

This isn't a desk job. It's a role for someone who likes being busy, enjoys variety and gets satisfaction from looking back at the end of the day and seeing what they've achieved.
