The IDFVS Case Manager is responsible for the delivery of high-quality activities that operate within comprehensive risk assessment and risk management plans, in collaboration and with the direction of the program manager, while providing specialist support to women, children and young people impacted by domestic and family violence. The role focuses on early intervention and prevention principles to prevent homelessness and enable women and children to experience long-term stability in safety, housing, income, employment, education, wellbeing and social networks.

Key responsibilities

- Conduct triage/intake/needs assessments
- Conduct safety/risk assessments and planning
- Case Management including practical, emotional, and psychoeducational support
- Case Coordination including security measures
- Advocacy and holistic 'hands on' support
- Direct support for children
- Adhere to database and reporting requirements as well as engaging in ongoing assessment of client wellbeing
- Team, sector and interagency meetings, including the Safety Action Meetings (SAM)
- Participate in the design and delivery of community education activities
- Work collaboratively and respectfully in the WRS and MDNC teams, engaging in reflective practice, team meetings and supervision

About you

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Science/Social Work/Social Welfare and a minimum of three years' experience in a domestic violence related field
- Extensive knowledge of domestic violence issues and legislation
- Knowledge of family law legislation
- Experience in case management, assessment and support working with vulnerable women,



families and a demonstrated understanding of the needs of disadvantaged groups, including Aboriginal families and children
- Experience in and understanding of trauma informed and strengths-based practice
- Experience in providing information, advocacy and referral services
- Experience in and knowledge of cultural capability
- Experience in the use of computers and computer software programs, including data collection
- Demonstrated high levels of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including negotiation, consultation and mediation
- Current unrestricted NSW driver's license and current Working With Children Check

About us

A Mullumbimby & District Neighbourhood Centre (MDNC) program; the Women's Resource Service (WRS) is a Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) funded service that provides support to women and their children from Ballina, Byron and Tweed shires who have been subjected to domestic, family violence and/or sexual violence. WRS delivers support services under Staying Home, Leaving Violence (SHLV), Integrated and Domestic and Family Violence Service (IDFVS), and the NPA Frontline Worker (DFSV) funding. The WRS aims to reduce the risk to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence. IDFVS and SHLV case managers work collaboratively with clients, the police and other local community services to assist women (with or without children) to safely separate, begin to recover and rebuild their lives free from violence and/or remain safely in their homes or a home of their choice. The WRS employs a client centred, trauma informed, culturally protected, strength-based, intersectional, and solution focused approach to supporting women and children.
