The Venue Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of customer experiences and events at Fed Square. This multifaceted position requires close collaboration with a diverse array of internal and external stakeholders to consistently deliver exceptional event experiences. Success in this role hinges on effective communication, adept problem-solving skills, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.

The position serves as a dedicated ambassador, consistently representing Fed Square to the public and actively contributing to the continual improvement of Fed Square's image as a prominent landmark and sought-after tourist destination - the "Face of Fed Square."

Casual Rates: $51.55 per hour (inclusive of casual loading) + Super (shift penalties also apply)

The Melbourne Arts Precinct Corporation (MAP Co) is the State Government agency responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation and provides governance and an operational structure to one of Melbourne's most iconic cultural spaces: Fed Square.

MAP Co leads the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation, Australia's largest ever cultural infrastructure project, delivering The Fox: NGV Contemporary and the major rejuvenation of Arts Centre Melbourne (ACM), joined together by 18,000sqm of green public space.

It also takes on the management and operations of Fed Square and is responsible for connecting a single continuous art, civic, and cultural precinct stretching from Fed Square through Southbank.

Once the transformation is complete, MAP Co will also manage and activate Laak Boorndap, the 18,000 urban garden that will connect the Melbourne Arts Precinct in a seamless and immersive cultural experience.

Fed Square is the gateway to the art precinct – and as Melbourne's public square it is the civic, cultural and community heart of the city. It home to four of Victoria's major cultural institutions: ACMI – Australia's Museum of Screen Culture, the Koorie Heritage Trust (KHT), Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio (MESS) and The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia along with an array of restaurants and cafes. Located opposite the iconic Flinders St Station, it is Melbourne's premier meeting place, tourist destination and event venue for thousands of free events every year.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

- Provide on-site venue and event supervision in accordance with policies and event documentation. Adapt plans as needed to manage crowd flow, egress, vehicle traffic, accessibility, and unexpected challenges.
- Regularly patrol the precinct as a supervising duty manager to ensure the seamless and timely execution of events, activities, and site operations. Ensure adequate support and safety measures are in place.
- Assist in the final-stage event delivery planning by liaising with internal and external stakeholders and preparing necessary team documentation. Proficiency in event planning software, such as Momentus (EBMS), Microsoft Teams, Risk Manager, Link Safe, and Outlook, is essential.
- Act as the primary on-ground venue contact for all internal and external event stakeholders. Provide supervision and support for extended venue operations and maintain effective communication.
- Minimise the impact of event activities on precinct tenants through proactive support and on-ground communication.
- Ensure compliance with event documentation, including OH&S; regulations, site plans, technical specifications and if required, test and tag equipment. Collaborate with clients to find solutions to meet their requirements.
- Execute set up including tablecloths, furniture, signage, and report and maintain inventory within storage areas.




- Liaise with and support emergency services and act as venue wardens as directed.
- Provide support to security and facilities management as needed, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
- Coordinate and debrief with internal and external stakeholders as necessary.
- Operate buggies, forklifts, and other specialised vehicles to transport equipment and assist in event set up and pack down.
- Any other duties as requested by your manager or delegated member.

Desired Experience/Qualifications:

- Demonstrated customer service experience and solution focused towards issues
- Demonstrated Experience in Outdoor Events with a “hands‑on” approach
- Solid understanding of site plans and event timeline logistics
- Ability to operate autonomously and unsupervised as well as part of an integrated team
- Experience in front and back-of-house operations in large, complex venues
- General event OH&S;, risk and crowd control experience
- Forklift license (desirable not essential)
- Level 1&2 or higher First Aid Certificate (desirable not essential)
- Traffic Control Certificate (desirable not essential)
- Test and Tag trained (desirable not essential)

Position Specific Requirements

This role will be rostered to work outside of ordinary hours on a regular basis, which will include early mornings, evenings and weekend work.
