Dib and Associates Lawyers – Sydney CBD NSW

Dib and Associates Lawyers is seeking a talented Junior Criminal Lawyer to join our dynamic legal team in Sydney. This is a full-time position based in Sydney NSW 2000. As a Junior Criminal Lawyer, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality criminal legal services to our diverse client base. You will work alongside experienced practitioners, gaining invaluable exposure to criminal law matters whilst developing your expertise in this specialised field. This position offers an excellent opportunity to build a robust foundation in criminal practice and contribute meaningfully to the firm's continued success.

Key responsibilities

Your primary duties will include:

- Assisting in the preparation and conduct of criminal defence matters across various jurisdictions and court levels
- Conducting legal research and preparing comprehensive case briefs and legal memoranda on criminal law issues
- Liaising with clients, police prosecutors and other legal professionals to gather information and advance case strategies
- Preparing bail applications, statements of facts, and other legal documents required for criminal proceedings
- Attending court hearings, committal proceedings and trials to support senior legal practitioners
- Providing advice to clients on criminal charges, sentencing implications and available legal options
- Managing case files and maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with firm procedures
- Conducting legal interviews with clients and witnesses to gather evidence and build case narratives




- Contributing to the development of effective defence strategies and advocating for clients' interests
- Keeping abreast of changes to criminal legislation and case law affecting practice areas

What we're looking for

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

- A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification recognised in Australia
- Current admission or eligibility for admission to practice as a lawyer in New South Wales
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly
- Excellent research and analytical abilities with meticulous attention to detail
- A solid understanding of criminal law, criminal procedure and evidence law
- Proficiency with legal databases and case management systems
- Professional integrity and a commitment to ethical legal practice
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and meet strict deadlines
- A genuine interest in criminal law and a commitment to providing quality client service
- Preferred experience includes prior internships,



practical legal experience or clerkships in criminal law firms or legal aid organisations
