Wanaruah Local Aboriginal Land Council – Muswellbrook NSW

As an Aboriginal Ranger, you will work alongside Elders, community members and partner organisations to deliver environmental, cultural and land management activities while developing valuable skills and qualifications. Rangers are responsible for the care, protection, and sustainable management of Country.

Key responsibilities

- Construction, repair, and maintenance of boundary and internal fencing, gates, signage, and access control points
- Identification and monitoring of invasive weed species and application of herbicides in accordance with environmental regulations and safety guidelines
- Collection of native seeds in line with seasonal and cultural protocols, processing, storage, and documentation of seed stock
- Participation in revegetation and habitat restoration activities to support biodiversity and ecosystem recovery
- Assisting in the identification and preservation of culturally significant sites and working in accordance with cultural heritage management plans




- Participation in hazard reduction and cultural burning where appropriate, and assisting in firebreak maintenance and fire preparedness
- Plant maintenance including pruning, weeding, potting, repotting and general plant care
- Track maintenance, erosion control, rubbish removal and site clean-up
- Monitoring of flora, fauna, and environmental conditions
- Use of tools, machinery, and vehicles in a secure and responsible manner

About you

- Driver's license is essential
- Must reside within the Upper Hunter area
- Must follow established Work Health and Safety procedures
- Must use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Must report hazards, incidents, and near misses
- Must participate in safety briefings and training
- Required training may include chemical handling and application certification, chainsaw and machinery operation tickets, First Aid certification, cultural heritage awareness, and fire management training
