THE ROLE

As Legal Counsel, you'll be a key player in People & Legal, providing timely, effective and strategic advice across everything from large-scale corporate and real estate transactions to fund, investment and property management, corporate compliance, construction matters, disputes, debt/equity matters, workplace relations, and privacy and data governance.

You’ll work across the full breadth of TLC's legal function - drafting and negotiating documentation, leading transaction workstreams, and building robust relationships with stakeholders both inside and outside the business.

Day-to-day you will be (but not limited to):

Providing comprehensive, solution-focused legal advice to support project and organisational outcomes, and address legal risk

Drafting, reviewing and advising on commercial contracts and other legal documentation

Leading legal workstreams across acquisitions, disposals and development transactions from origination through to completion

Managing correspondence and building relationships with key stakeholders, including external legal providers, authorities and government partners





Identifying, communicating and escalating significant legal risks, and collaborating with stakeholders on solutions

Contributing to the drafting and implementation of internal governance policies and operating procedures

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Law degree and a current Australian Practising Certificate

Minimum 5+ years post-admission experience, including at least 1-2 years as in-house Legal Counsel

Relevant post-qualification experience across some or all of: commercial contracts, corporations law, funds management, real estate and development law, construction law, IP, employment law, litigation, and privacy/data governance

Proven ability to provide strategic and pragmatic legal advice on complex legal and regulatory matters

Highly developed stakeholder management skills, both internal and external, with strong commercial judgment

Confident, proactive and highly organised, with a track record of taking initiative and owning matters through to resolution
