An excellent opportunity to combine General Medicine and Geriatric Medicine within a supportive multidisciplinary environment.

Sante Recruitment is seeking an experienced General Physician / Geriatrician to join an established medical service in a role offering a unique 50/50 split between General Medicine and Geriatric Medicine.

This position is ideally suited to a physician who enjoys clinical variety and would value the opportunity to maintain a broad General Medicine practice while developing or continuing a special interest in the care of older patients.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will work across two complementary specialties:

- 0.5 FTE – General Medicine
- 0.5 FTE – Geriatric Medicine

The role provides an opportunity to manage a diverse range of acute, complex and chronic medical conditions while working closely with multidisciplinary teams across both services.

The General Medicine component will provide exposure to a broad range of adult medical presentations, while the Geriatric Medicine component will focus on the comprehensive assessment and management of older patients with complex medical, functional and psychosocial needs.

General Medicine

Within General Medicine, the successful candidate will contribute to the assessment and management of patients presenting with a broad range of acute and complex medical conditions.

Responsibilities May Include

- Inpatient assessment and management
- Management of complex and multi-system medical presentations
- Clinical decision-making and treatment planning
- Multidisciplinary case management
- Consultation and advice to other clinical teams
- Participation in teaching and supervision
- Contribution to clinical governance and quality improvement

Geriatric Medicine





The Geriatric Medicine component provides an opportunity to work with older patients presenting with complex and often multiple medical conditions.

The Role May Involve

- Comprehensive geriatric assessment
- Management of frailty and complex comorbidities
- Falls and functional assessment
- Cognitive and dementia-related presentations
- Medication and chronic disease management
- Multidisciplinary care planning
- Discharge planning and transition of care
- Liaison with community and primary healthcare providers
- Supporting patients and families with complex care needs

The successful applicant will work alongside nursing, allied health and other medical professionals to provide patient-centred, holistic care.

Requirements Applicants Will Ideally Have

- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent specialist qualifications
- Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia, or eligibility for specialist registration

- Experience or demonstrated interest in Geriatric Medicine
