Forster Eye Surgery is seeking a General Ophthalmologist for a flexible locum opportunity between mid-December 2026 and July 2027.

We are very happy to consider applicants who are available for all or only part of this period, making this an ideal prospect for a recently qualified ophthalmologist who has completed training and has some time available before commencing a fellowship or permanent appointment.

The Opportunity

Forster Eye Surgery is a busy, established regional ophthalmology practice with a strong referral base and an immediate caseload available.
The locum can be tailored to the experience and interests of the successful applicant, with opportunities including:

- General ophthalmology consultations
- Cataract assessment and surgery
- Medical retina
- Minor procedures
- Oculoplastic procedures, depending on experience
- Private + Public surgical lists




- Opportunities for public hospital work, subject to credentialling and availability

The position can be full-time or part-time, and we are flexible regarding the length of the locum. Applicants able to cover anything from several weeks through to the full period are encouraged to enquire.

Located on the beautiful Barrington Coast of NSW, Forster offers an exceptional coastal lifestyle while servicing a large regional catchment. The practice has an established patient and referral base, providing the successful applicant with the opportunity to step directly into a busy clinical environment.

This position may particularly suit a newly qualified RANZCO Fellow or ophthalmologist who has completed specialist training and is awaiting commencement of a fellowship or other appointment in 2027.
