Are you an experienced psychologist who is ready to take the next step into clinical leadership, but wants to do so within a genuinely supportive environment?

The Daisy Clinic – Paediatric Health Services is seeking a Clinical Psychologist or Educational & Developmental Psychologist to lead our growing Psychology Department.

You may already hold a formal leadership position, or you may be a senior psychologist who has developed strong clinical expertise and is ready for greater responsibility, influence and professional growth.

You do not need to arrive knowing how to lead every aspect of a department independently. You will work alongside a supportive executive team, experienced operational leaders and other discipline leaders who will help you grow into the role. You will have the space to develop your leadership capability while contributing your own clinical knowledge, ideas and perspective.

This is an opportunity to move beyond an individual caseload and begin shaping the quality, direction and development of psychological services for children, adolescents and their families.

About the role

As Head of Psychology, you will provide clinical leadership and direction to our Psychology Department while remaining connected to clinical practice through a small, carefully considered caseload.

You will be supported to develop your leadership skills while gradually taking responsibility for:

- Providing clinical leadership and direction to the Psychology Department
- Supporting psychologists with complex formulation, assessment, diagnosis and clinical decision-making
- Providing clinical consultation and contributing to supervision
- Supporting psychologists across different career stages
- Promoting high standards of clinical governance, documentation and evidence-based practice
- Developing and refining assessment, diagnostic and intervention pathways
- Contributing to the recruitment, onboarding and development of psychologists
- Working collaboratively with the executive team and other discipline leaders
- Contributing to service development, innovation and recent models of paediatric care
- Maintaining a small clinical caseload aligned with your interests and expertise
- Developing and delivering professional learning
- Supporting a culture of curiosity, reflective practice and ongoing learning
- Identifying opportunities for research and helping translate emerging evidence into clinical practice

This is primarily a clinical leadership position,



not an administrative management role. Our executive, operational and administrative teams manage the day-to-day running of the clinic, allowing you to focus on clinical quality, clinician development and the direction of psychological practice.

Stepping into leadership should not mean being expected to have all the answers from day one.

As Head of Psychology, you will be part of a collaborative leadership structure and will receive support from:

- The Director of Clinical Services
- The broader executive and operational leadership team
- Senior leaders from Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology and Physiotherapy
- An established administration team managing the clinic’s day-to-day operations
- External supervision, mentoring or professional development where appropriate
- Clearly established systems, policies and clinical governance processes

You will have regular opportunities to consult, reflect, problem-solve and develop your leadership approach. We want the person who accepts this role to feel supported to succeed—not left to navigate the transition into leadership alone.

About you

We are looking for an experienced psychologist who has strong clinical foundations and is ready to broaden their contribution beyond their own caseload.

You will have:

- General registration with AHPRA
- Endorsement in Clinical Psychology and/or Educational and Developmental Psychology
- Strong experience working with children, adolescents and their families
- Advanced skills in psychological assessment, formulation and intervention
- Sound knowledge of developmental, neurodevelopmental and mental health presentations
- Strong clinical judgement and the capacity to contribute thoughtfully to complex case consultation
- A commitment to evidence-based, developmentally informed and neuroaffirming practice
- An interest in supporting and developing other psychologists
- Strong communication and collaborative working skills
- Curiosity, initiative and openness to professional growth
- An interest in clinical education, supervision, service development and research

Previous experience in leadership, supervision, professional education or research will be highly regarded but is not essential.

We recognise that moving into leadership is a significant professional step. You may not currently have “Head of Department” in your title, but you may already be demonstrating many of the qualities this position requires.
