Job Description
Salix is looking for an ambitious Sales Engineer to join our team and bring a groundbreaking new product to the railway industry.

We're developing technology that has the potential to revolutionise the way maintenance is carried out on railway tracks — improving safety, efficiency and productivity while changing the way railway operators and maintenance teams' approach one of their most critical challenges.

- Develop and execute a sales strategy for Salix's new railway maintenance technology.
n
- Identify and develop relationships with key customers, stakeholders and decision-makers across the rail industry.
n
- Build a strong understanding of customer needs and translate technical challenges into commercial opportunities.
n
- Deliver compelling technical presentations, demonstrations and product trials.
n
- Work closely with engineering and product teams to communicate customer feedback and help shape future development.
n
- Manage the sales process from initial engagement through to demonstration, trial, negotiation and contract.
n
- Develop long-term relationships with customers and industry partners.
n
- Attend industry events,
exhibitions and customer sites to build awareness and generate opportunities.
n
- Prepare proposals, quotations and technical/commercial responses.
n
- Track market developments, competitors and emerging opportunities within railway maintenance.
n
- Help establish Salix as a leading innovator in railway maintenance technology.
n
n
We're looking for someone who combines technical credibility with commercial drive.
n
You might already be working as a Sales Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer, Business Development Manager, Railway Engineer or Project Engineer — or you may have another background that gives you the right combination of technical knowledge, customer understanding and enthusiasm for innovation.

Ideally, you'll have:

n
- Experience in technical sales, engineering, business development or a related role.
n
- A strong understanding of railway infrastructure, track maintenance or rail engineering.
n
- The ability to understand complex technical concepts and explain them simply and convincingly.
n
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
n
- A commercially minded approach and the confidence to develop relationships at all levels.
n
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of opportunities.
n
- A willingness to travel to customer sites and industry events.
n
