With the owners stepping back from daily coordination to focus on strategic business management, they are seeking a high-calibre Operations Manager. A major driver for this role is unlocking the significant untapped profit potential in livestock trading and actively guiding cropping directions in conjunction with the livestock enterprise. The owners want a sharp, clear-thinking professional who will take full day-to-day ownership of farm logistics, lead an established crew, align cropping strategy with livestock feed demands, and actively drive their livestock trading and feedlot operations to take the business to the next level.

The Operation

The Broadacre cropping program covers 2,000 hectares of winter crops alongside 230 hectares of summer maize under centre pivots (expanding to a total of 420 hectares under irrigation). Plant and machinery are modern and well-maintained, featuring late-model Fendt tractors, a Bourgault airseeder with an Excell single disc bar, a Claas Lexion 8700 header, Topcon GPS, on-farm storage for 3,000 tonnes (filled twice annually across winter and summer programs), and an on-farm grain dryer.



The business owners will continue to directly manage the centre pivot irrigation program, allowing the Operations Manager to maintain full operational focus on the remainder of the business.

The livestock program runs 4,500 self-replacing Merino ewes (non-mulesed), with a third joined to White Suffolk terminal sires. Crucially, the business features an automated lamb feedlot (PLC-controlled Feed Tech auto-feeders) that sits idle for parts of the year, alongside ample on-farm grain storage (barley, corn, and grain reserves). The owners see livestock trading and pushing the feedlot harder as two of the biggest levers to drive margin growth. Whether it is finishing first-cross lambs, backgrounding trade cattle, or capturing quick market turnarounds, there is massive scope for a commercially minded manager to leverage the farm's feed bank, infrastructure, and grain to execute lucrative trades. Facilities include brand-new home sheep yards, laneway systems, and established perennial pastures.

The Role

Reporting directly to the owners, you will hold complete operational authority over day-to-day logistics, coordinating three full-time farmhands while maintaining a solid hands-on presence. Rather than sitting in a tractor cab continuously, you will maintain full spatial awareness across operations, ensuring timeliness, machine maintenance, and safety.

- Livestock Trading, Flock Management & Feedlot Operations: Taking the lead on trading opportunities, managing ewe flock husbandry, monitoring livestock markets closely, liaising with agents, running margin numbers,



and maximising throughput and weight gains in the feedlot.
- Cropping Oversight: Collaborative planning of annual cropping logistics and management to ensure optimal operational execution and feed alignment.
- Team Leadership: Coordinating daily operations, directing staff, and setting a high standard for work ethic, safety, and mutual respect.
- Data & Systems: Utilising digital farm tools (Agworld, Mobble, TA Farmhub), collaborating with agronomists, and tracking performance metrics to guide commercial calls.

The Ideal Candidate

We are searching for a high-integrity, analytical, and practical leader who brings genuine "stock sense", commercial savvy, and a sharp eye for market opportunities alongside broadacre machinery competency and staff management skills.

- Strong commercial instinct for livestock trading, feedlot dynamics, market trends, and trading margins.
- Exceptional livestock handling skills accompanied by a quality team of working dogs (an advantage, but not a necessity).
- Solid broadacre cropping experience, machinery literacy, and basic agronomic knowledge.
- Proven team management experience with clear communication skills, honesty, and high personal standards.
- Practical maintenance skills for Broadacre plant and farm infrastructure.
- MC Truck License (or willingness to obtain).
