Quality, Safety & Environmental (QHSE) Manager

In this role, you will be out on-site and in the office, driving practical, common-sense compliance across active commercial refurbishment and construction projects in metropolitan Adelaide. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with Project Managers and Site Supervisors, embedding high standards early, ensuring robust quality hold points are respected, streamlining completion handovers, and ensuring every trade goes home safe at the end of the day.

Key responsibilities

Pre-Construction & Planning

Project planning with Project Managers prior to works commencing: Lead the pre-construction review to establish project-specific risks, safety parameters, environmental controls, and quality requirements.

Develop project-specific WHS, Environmental, and Quality Management Plans (SMP, EMP, QMP) tailored to refurbishment staging, live environments, and client expectations.

Coordinate subcontractor pre-qualifications, trade compliance vetting, and high-risk work permits prior to site mobilization.

Quality Assurance & Site Delivery

Manage ITPs with PMs and Site Supervisors: Oversee the drafting, site implementation, and sign-off of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) using Procore and Sitebook, ensuring critical hold points and witness points are inspected and approved.

Conduct regular site quality walks to verify workmanship, materials, and installations against project specifications and Australian Standards.

Track defects and non-conformances (NCRs) proactively to prevent rework, managing punch lists directly with site teams.

Project Completion & Handover

Manage project completion documentation: Coordinate, assemble, and finalize comprehensive handover packages, including signed-off digital ITPs, producer statements, certificates of compliance, and warranties.





Collaborate with PMs to produce detailed Operation & Maintenance (O&M;) manuals for clients.

Facilitate pre-handover inspections and oversee prompt defect rectification for smooth practical completion sign-offs.

Safety & Environmental Management

Champion a proactive safety culture across all metropolitan job sites through visible site leadership, hazard identification, and practical toolbox sessions.

Oversee site environmental controls (waste segregation, noise, dust, run-off, and hazardous material management).

Lead incident reporting, investigations, and root-cause analyses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

About you

- 3+ years in a dedicated QHSE / HSEQ role within the Australian commercial building, refurbishment, or fit-out sector
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience using Procore and Sitebook or transferable expertise with equivalent construction management platforms
- A pragmatic problem-solver who understands construction sequencing, works well in live site environments, and earns the respect of site managers and subcontractors
- Relevant WHS qualifications (Cert IV or Diploma in WHS, or equivalent)
- Current South Australian Driver's Licence
- Valid White Card
