Role Summary

n

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to play a key role in the migration of legacy data assets to Microsoft Fabric and the redevelopment of transformation logic using dbt.

n

Working closely with business stakeholders and the Data Analytics team, you will design and implement modern, secure and scalable data solutions that support trusted reporting, analytics and decision-making. You will be responsible for delivering robust data pipelines, migration activities, testing, automation and governance capabilities while ensuring the long-term maintainability of the platform.

n

This role is ideal for a hands-on Data Engineer with strong experience across cloud data platforms, Microsoft Fabric and modern data transformation practices.

n

Employment Type and Duration: Contract until 30 June 2027 plus extensions

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Design and deliver migration of legacy data assets into Microsoft Fabric and OneLake
n
- Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric Data Factory
n
- Rebuild legacy ETL and stored procedure logic into modular dbt models
n
- Create and maintain source-to-target mappings, technical documentation and engineering standards
n
- Design and implement data models, reporting marts and transformation layers
n
- Conduct data reconciliation, validation and quality assurance activities throughout migration
n




- Build and maintain automated testing, monitoring and deployment processesConfigure and manage version control, CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices
n
- Support data governance initiatives, including lineage, cataloguing and data quality management
n
- Collaborate with stakeholders to validate requirements and ensure successful project delivery
n
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to internal teams
n
- Optimise data solutions for performance, scalability and maintainability
n

Required Skills & Experience

n

n
- Proven experience delivering data migration projects from legacy platforms to modern cloud environments
n
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, Data Factory, Warehouse and Lakehouse environments
n
- Strong SQL and data engineering capability
n
- Experience developing and maintaining dbt projects and transformation frameworks
n
- Experience with dimensional modelling and modern data warehouse design practices
n
- Strong understanding of data quality, reconciliation and validation processes
n
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Git and CI/CD deployment practices
n
- Ability to reverse engineer legacy ETL processes and stored procedures into modern data models
n

Qualifications & Clearance

n

n
- Relevant experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering or Data Platform Development
n
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric and modern cloud data platforms essential
n
- Experience with Python, Power BI and Microsoft Purview highly regarded
n
- Experience working within regulated or large enterprise environments advantageous
