Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our team, reporting directly to the Head of Finance.

This is a broad accounting role within a growing, multi-entity business—not a narrowly focused accounts payable or transactional position. You will support financial reporting, reconciliations, compliance, budgeting, payroll-related reporting, analysis and operational finance.

You will work closely with an experienced Head of Finance, with the opportunity to strengthen your technical skills and take on greater responsibility as you develop in the role.

Key responsibilities

- Assist with monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting
n
- Prepare balance sheet, bank and general ledger reconciliations
n
- Support BAS, PAYGW, PAYGI and payroll tax obligations
n
- Manage accounts payable, supplier payments and customer invoicing
n
- Assist with debtor management and account follow-up
n
- Reconcile employee credit cards, receipts and spending reports
n
- Maintain fixed asset registers and accurate records across multiple entities
n
- Complete stock reconciliations and investigate stocktake variances
n
- Support budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
n
- Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and reporting
n

About you

n

- Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar accounting role
n
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
n
- Currently studying, or eligible to commence, a CA or CPA qualification
n




- Practical experience with reconciliations, month-end processes and financial reporting
n
- Positive working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
n
- Experience using Xero
n
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to accuracy
n
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
n
- Sound judgement when handling confidential information
n
