About The Role

n

The City of Salisbury is seeking an experienced Turf and Irrigation Team Member (Technical Support) to join our City Infrastructure team.

n

Reporting to the Coordinator Turf and Irrigation, you will provide advanced technical support across Council's irrigation systems, turf infrastructure and control systems. You'll be responsible for programming, monitoring and fault-finding of irrigation control systems, assisting in the management of reserves and sporting facilities, and supporting the delivery of efficient irrigation operations across Council assets.

This role is ideal for someone with solid irrigation technical knowledge who enjoys problem-solving, analysing system performance and sharing their expertise with others. You'll also support apprentices and junior team members while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the team.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

n

- Program, monitor and manage irrigation control systems and associated hardware.
n




- Analyse irrigation data and adjust watering schedules based on seasonal and site requirements.
n
- Undertake fault finding, diagnostics and repairs across irrigation networks and equipment.
n
- Monitor water usage, alarms and system performance to identify improvement opportunities.
n
- Assist with the commissioning and testing of new irrigation infrastructure.
n
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors and service providers on technical irrigation matters.
n
- Support the maintenance and management of reserves and sporting facilities.
n
- Maintain irrigation asset records, controller databases and site documentation.
n
- Interpret and update irrigation and landscape plans.
n
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring and support to apprentices and junior staff.
n
- Contribute to continuous improvement and safe work practices across the team.

About You

n

You are a technically capable irrigation professional who enjoys solving problems and takes pride in maintaining high-performing irrigation systems.

n

You bring strong fault-finding skills, can confidently interpret irrigation data and are comfortable balancing hands‐on field work with planning, monitoring and documentation. You work well independently, communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders and enjoy supporting the development of others.

You will also have

n

n
- Experience programming and operating automated irrigation control systems.
n
- Strong irrigation fault-finding, diagnostic and repair experience.
n




- Ability to interpret irrigation data and develop irrigation schedules.
n
- Experience maintaining irrigation infrastructure, including controllers, pumps, valves and communication systems.
n
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior employees.
n
- Well-developed problem‐solving and troubleshooting skills.
n
- Ability to organise and prioritise work with minimal supervision.
n
- Certificate III in Irrigation, Horticulture, Sports Turf Management or equivalent trade qualification.
n
- Current Class C Driver's Licence.
n
- Experience with Hunter Centralus irrigation management software (desirable).
n
- Experience with sportsfield irrigation and turf management (desirable).
n
- Understanding of the IPOS Code of Practice and recycled water systems (desirable).
n
- Experience with irrigation asset management systems and GIS platforms (desirable).
n
