Talent International is currently recruiting for a Social Media Specialist to work for the Local Government, based in Bankstown. This position is a contract role for 12 months with a view to be extended, and the role pays $74.61 per hour + Super.
n
5-day working week. Monday-Friday, business hours between 8.30am-5.30pm (depending on 1hr or 30min lunch break)
About the Role n
The Social Media Specialist will be responsible for developing a recent organisation-wide Social Media Strategy and managing the organisation's social media channels.
n
The role will use audience insights, analytics and stakeholder feedback to improve social media performance, strengthen governance and ensure communications are accessible, engaging and appropriate for diverse communities.
Key Responsibilities n
n
- Develop and implement an organisation-wide Social Media Strategy.
n
- Manage and optimise the organisation's social media channels.
n
- Review existing channels, content practices, audience engagement and performance.
n
- Use analytics and audience insights to improve content and channel effectiveness.
n
- Develop governance frameworks, content standards, channel principles and reporting processes.
n
- Prepare practical implementation plans, guidelines and executive-ready recommendations.
n
- Engage stakeholders across the organisation to gather insights and understand communication needs.
n
- Establish effective processes for content publishing, moderation, monitoring, escalation and risk management.
n
- Manage paid and organic social media activities.
n
- Identify and manage reputational, political and community-facing communication risks.
n
- Support accessible, inclusive and multicultural communications.
n
To be successful in this role, you will have: nn
- Demonstrated experience in communications, public relations, stakeholder engagement, organisational improvement, project delivery or a related discipline.
n
- Experience developing,
implementing or leading a social media strategy within a large or complex organisation.
n
- Strong knowledge of contemporary social media platforms, audience behaviour, content trends, algorithms, paid and organic content, analytics and digital engagement.
n
- Experience using data and insights to guide strategy, improve content performance and assess channel effectiveness.
n
- Experience developing social media governance frameworks, operating models, content standards, reporting processes or ways of working.
n
- Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, including the ability to gather user insights and translate complex requirements into practical recommendations.
n
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate stakeholders, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
n
- Excellent written communication skills, including experience preparing strategies, briefs, implementation plans, reports, guidelines and executive-level recommendations.
n
- Sound judgement and political awareness when managing sensitive issues and reputational risks.
n
- Experience using social media publishing, management, analytics, monitoring or archiving tools such as Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, Meta Ads Manager, Brolly or similar platforms.
n
- Proficiency in the Microsoft 365 suite.
n
- Experience working within a complex, community-focused, government or public-sector environment.
n
- Experience in digital transformation, service design, human-centred design, Double Diamond methodology, customer journey mapping, process mapping, business improvement or organisational change.
n
- Understanding of public accountability, community expectations, governance and politically sensitive communications.
n
- Experience developing social media author networks, training materials, user guides, moderation standards or escalation processes.
n
- Experience establishing distributed content governance models.
n
- Understanding of accessible, inclusive and multicultural communication practices across digital and non-digital channels.
