Borepoint is a small Canberra-based drilling and civil business, working alongside our specialist earthing division, Complete Earthing.

n

Between the two businesses, we get to do some pretty engaging stuff — and we're looking for someone who wants to learn it.

n

Come in as a labourer. Don't stay one.

n

You don't need to turn up knowing how to operate every machine.

n

You don't need to know anything about electrical earthing.

n

We'll teach you.

n

You'll start working alongside our crew and learn the basics properly. As you become more capable, we'll progressively give you opportunities to develop into areas that interest you.

n

Learn to operate machinery properly

n

Not just getting a ticket and knowing which lever does what.

n

We want to develop people into genuinely capable operators.

n

You'll have the opportunity to learn:

n

n
- Excavators and civil plant
n
- Horizontal directional drilling
n
- Hydrovac equipment
n
- Specialist drilling rigs
n
- Underground service installation
n
- Working safely around existing underground infrastructure
n

n

You'll learn how to understand the machine, understand the ground, plan the job and look after the equipment you're trusted with.

n

Learn specialist electrical earthing

n

This is where things get a little different.

n





Through Complete Earthing, you'll also have the opportunity to learn a specialised part of the electrical infrastructure industry.

n

That can include:

n

n
- Installing substation earth mats
n
- Drilling and installing deep earth electrodes
n
- Earthing conductors and connections
n
- Soil resistivity testing
n
- Earthing system testing
n
- Working around substations and electrical infrastructure
n
- Understanding how and why earthing systems are installed
n

n

You don't need to be an electrician.

n

We'll teach you what you're doing, why you're doing it and how to do it properly.

n

These aren't skills you'll pick up working for every civil contractor.

n

But we're really recruiting the person.

n

We're a small crew.

n

We work together, have a laugh, help each other out and rely on everyone doing their part.

n

So we're not looking for someone who just wants another job.

n

We're looking for someone who wants to join the team.

n

Someone who turns up.

n

Someone who gets involved.

n

Someone who sees the boys loading the truck and jumps in without being asked.

n

Someone who's interested when a machine is operating and wants to know how it works.

n





Someone who asks questions.

n

Someone who takes some pride in becoming good at something.

n

If you're the person who naturally wants to learn more and do more, we'll give you the opportunity to do it.

Where could you be in a few years?

n

That's largely going to depend on you.

n

You could come through the door with very little experience and develop into a skilled machine operator.

n

You might find you're particularly interested in drilling.

n

You might develop into specialist earthing work.

n

You might become capable across all of it.

n

As your skills, licences and responsibilities increase, we want your position within the business to grow with them.

Our goal isn't to find someone to push a shovel for the next five years.

n

It's to find someone worth investing in.

n

What do you need to start?

n

A driver's licence and Construction White Card.

n

If you already have an MR/HR licence, plant tickets, civil experience, mechanical experience or experience around utilities, that's a bonus.

n

But we'd rather meet someone with limited experience and a great attitude than someone with every ticket who doesn't want to be part of the team.
