Senior Product Development Chemist

n

At Phebra, we're looking for a technically strong and commercially minded Senior Product Development Chemist to play a key role in developing new pharmaceutical products and optimising our existing portfolio. This is a hands-on opportunity to apply your formulation expertise, scientific problem-solving and project management skills to products that ultimately become critical medicines for patients.

Working closely with other Phebra teams, you'll help move products from the laboratory through scale-up, regulatory approval and into routine commercial manufacture - making this role a core part of what we do to keep Phebra's product pipeline moving forward.

What you'll be doing in the role

n

As Senior Product Development Chemist, you'll lead the scientific development and optimisation of pharmaceutical products, with responsibilities including:

n

Developing and optimising pharmaceutical formulations from laboratory through to commercial scale.

n





Developing topical formulations and emulsions, including creams, gels, ointments and complex suspensions.

n

Developing sterile injectable solutions under strict aseptic conditions.

n

Generating development, stability and CMC data to support product registrations and regulatory variations.

n

Designing and executing scientifically robust experiments and resolving complex formulation challenges.

n

Developing robust manufacturing processes and leading technical transfer into commercial production.

n

Managing product development projects, timelines and cross-functional stakeholders.

n

Supporting process improvements and technical investigations for existing products.

n

Preparing high-quality technical reports and documentation to strict deadlines.

n

Providing technical leadership, mentoring and supervision to other Product Development Chemists.

About you

n

You're an experienced formulation scientist with solid pharmaceutical development expertise, excellent scientific judgement and the ability to take a formulation from an idea in the laboratory through to successful commercial manufacture. You'll bring:

n

A Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Pharmaceutics or a related science discipline.

n

Minimum 5 years' experience in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical or animal health product formulation.

n

Comprehensive experience with topicals, emulsions, creams, gels, ointments and complex suspensions.

n

Proven experience developing sterile injectable solutions under aseptic conditions.

n

Strong knowledge of cGMP, TGA requirements and Quality by Design (QbD) principles.

n





Demonstrated experience scaling formulations from bench scale through pilot plant to full-scale commercial manufacturing.

n

Advanced formulation troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including diagnosing issues such as phase separation and active ingredient degradation.

n

Strong project management, organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and strict deadlines.

n

Excellent technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

n

A proactive, collaborative approach and the confidence to provide technical leadership and mentoring.

n
