We're not writing another boring chef ad. Are you the chef we're looking for?
Chefs Wanted — Verandah Bar
You know the ads. "Fast-paced environment." "Team player." "Competitive pay." Blah, blah, blah. If you've read one hospitality job ad, you've read them all — so we're not writing another one.
Here's the truth: Verandah Bar is a busy CBD venue, the kitchen moves fast, and yes, we do want a team player. But what we actually want is a chef who cares — about the food going out, about the section next to them, about getting better at this trade rather than just clocking in and out.
Maybe that's you. Maybe you're a chef de partie who's sick of kitchens that don't back their staff. Maybe you're a kitchen hand ready to start cooking. Maybe you're a young cook still figuring out where you fit — we've got room for that too.
What you'll actually be doing
Cooking good food, under pressure, alongside people who know what they're doing. Owning your section.
Speaking up when something's not right — with the food or with how the shift's running. Getting better, service by service.
What you won't get here
A kitchen that runs on fear. Managers who disappear when it gets busy. Being treated like a number.
What you will get
Sundays off. Staff meals. Drink discounts across every Tilley & Wills venue. An Employee Assistance Program, because kitchens are hard on people and we know it. And if you're positive, room to grow — we promote from within, properly, not just as a line in a job ad.
The basics, since you'll want to know
All levels considered — apprentice through to sous chef. Flexibility across our trading days.
If that sounds like your kind of kitchen, send us your resume. We'd genuinely like to meet you.
