Job Description

We are seeking Casual Freight Examination / Security Officers to work at the Cargo Precinct of Western Sydney Airport, with the potential to transition into full-timeas operational requirements grow.

As a Freight Examination / Security Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of cargo within the Qantas Freight network. You will be responsible for conducting thorough compliant screening of cargo and performing security-related duties in a high-security, regulated aviation environment, including Enhanced Airside Screening activities.

n

This role involves undertaking advanced screening procedures and interact with screening equipment to include x-ray screening technology, while maintaining strict adherence to aviation security protocols and compliance requirements.

n

This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong observational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure workplace.

n

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Perform Qantas Freight cargo screening in accordance with aviation security regulations and client procedures.
n
- Conduct examination and screening of cargo consignments using approved screening equipment
n
- Carry out enhanced airside screening procedures
n
- Screening of persons and items entering the Cargo facility.
n
- Operate and monitor X-ray screening technology
n
- Conduct identification inspections to verify approved persons to enter the Cargo facility.
n
- Follow strict client security protocols, procedures, and compliance requirements
n
- Identify and respond to potential threats when examining Freight.
n
- Accurately document and report any security incidents
n

Skills, Experience & Requirements

n

n
- Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (Air Cargo Examination Officer)
n
- NSW Security Licence (1A)
n
- Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)



or ability to obtain

- Dangerous Goods Awareness Certificate (or ability to obtain)
n
- Excellent attention to detail and strong observational skills
n
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
n
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
n
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and compliance requirements
n
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
n
- Basic computer skills for operating screening equipment and reporting
n

Additional Requirements:

- Must successfully pass Drug & Alcohol testing
n
- Must pass a pre-employment medical assessment, including colour perception standards required for X-ray screening
n
- Must be available to work a 24/7 rotating roster across all 7 days, including day and night shifts
n
