Manager (Infrastructure & Strategic Planning)

This QLD state department is seeking an experienced Traffic and Transport Engineer / Infrastructure Planning professional to join their team supporting major development and infrastructure initiatives.
n This is a senior technical and strategic role suited to someone with strong experience across traffic and transport engineering, development assessment, infrastructure planning and stakeholder engagement.
n You will provide authoritative, practical advice to support timely development approvals, integrated transport outcomes and sustainable development, applying sound engineering judgement while balancing development objectives, infrastructure requirements and regulatory standards.
n Key Responsibilities

n

- Provide expert traffic and transport advice to develop integrated transport infrastructure strategies for Priority Development Areas (PDAs), including infrastructure planning and infrastructure charges.
n
- Provide technical input throughout the development assessment process, including reviewing complex proposals and negotiating appropriate traffic, transport and infrastructure outcomes.
n
- Provide strategic advice across transport planning, traffic modelling, infrastructure strategy and development planning.
n
- Integrate land use, transport and infrastructure requirements to support coordinated and sustainable development outcomes.
n
- Identify risks, opportunities and practical solutions across complex traffic, transport and infrastructure matters.
n
- Translate complex technical issues into clear, practical and defensible recommendations to support timely decision-making.
n
- Build strong relationships with government agencies, infrastructure authorities, developers, consultants and industry stakeholders.
n
- Lead stakeholder discussions and negotiations to resolve complex infrastructure issues and achieve practical outcomes.
n




- Maintain quality assurance and consistency across traffic and transport advice.
n
- Manage multiple priorities and complex workstreams with a high level of autonomy.
n

About You

n

We are looking for an experienced traffic and transport engineering professional who can combine technical expertise with strategic thinking and development assessment capability.

n

You will bring:

n

n
- Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary transport planning and design principles, standards, legislation and related disciplines.
n
- Significant experience in integrated transport planning, infrastructure strategy, transport infrastructure and development assessment.
n
- Strong experience assessing complex development proposals and providing technical advice that supports development outcomes.
n
- Demonstrated leadership capability and strong professional judgement.
n
- Advanced stakeholder management and negotiation skills, particularly across complex or competing infrastructure requirements.
n
- The ability to develop pragmatic and cutting-edge solutions within a dynamic development and policy environment.
n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly and persuasively.
n
- Strong project and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes with limited supervision.
n
- Previous experience within Queensland Government, Economic Development Queensland (EDQ), major development or large infrastructure environments will be highly regarded.
