Teaching that responds to students
n
Our lessons follow students' school topics and upcoming assessments. We adapt our teaching to address gaps, extend understanding and prepare students for their school exams. You'll use original NSW syllabus-aligned materials written by Alfred, including theory, worked examples, homework and assessment preparation resources.

The role
n

- Teach two-hour group lessons across Years 7–12, with a maximum of six students.
n
- Teach Stage 6 Advanced, Stage 6 Extension 1 and Stage 6 Extension 2.
n
- Break down difficult problems into clear, understandable steps.
n
- Review students' work and give specific, constructive feedback.
n
- Adapt lessons to current school topics and assessment needs.
n
- Help students build confidence, independence and enjoyment in maths.

What we're looking for

- Solid knowledge of secondary mathematics through Year 12 Extension 2.
n
- Clear communication and a patient approach to teaching.
n
- Reliability, preparation and genuine care for students' progress.
n
- Availability on selected days from Monday to Saturday at our Eastwood centre.

Teaching pay
n
Your rate depends on your experience, the course taught and enrolled class size. Starting rates below apply to one enrolled student. All figures are in Australian dollars.

Stages 4–5 / Stage 6 Advanced
n Starting: $35-$50/hour · $70-$100 per 2-hour lesson
n With 6 students: $85-$100/hour · $170-$200 per 2-hour lesson
n
Stage 6 Extension 1
n Starting: $40-$60/hour · $80-$120 per 2-hour lesson
n With 6 students: $90-$110/hour · $180-$220 per 2-hour lesson
n
Stage 6 Extension 2
n Starting: $45-$70/hour · $90-$140 per 2-hour lesson
n With 6 students: $95-$120/hour · $190-$240 per 2-hour lesson
n
Each additional enrolled student adds $10 per hour, or $20 per two-hour lesson, up to six students.

The maximum rate of $120/hour applies to an experienced maths tutor teaching Stage 6 Extension 2 to six enrolled students. Class sizes vary; a full class is not guaranteed.
n
Your experience band is assessed through relevant tutoring or school teaching experience and demonstrated teaching ability. University students and pre-service teachers may qualify for either band. The agreed band and course rates will be confirmed before you start. Temporarily absent enrolled students do not reduce the agreed class-size rate.

Alfred's Maths Tutoring is an independent tutoring centre in Eastwood. Founder Alfred taught mathematics at high schools between 2013 and 2022.
