Job Description
HOBAN Recruitment is seeking experienced and detail-oriented professionalfor an APS4 level Collections Support Officer opportunitylocated in Parkes ACT.
n
This role is ideal for candidates with experience working in libraries, archives, museums, heritage collections or records management environments who are passionate about preserving and maintaining important collection materials.
n You will play a key role in cataloguing, metadata creation, collection control and the safe handling of valuable collection items while supporting day-to-day collection management operations.
n
About the Role
n
As an APS4 Level Collections Support Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate collection records and supporting the physical management of collection materials in accordance with established procedures and WHS requirements.
n
Key responsibilities
n
n
- Creating and updating descriptive and collection control metadata within the collection management system
n
- Cataloguing and maintaining accurate records for a variety of collection materials
n
- Retrieving collection items from storage repositories and shelving locations
n
- Housing and re-housing collection materials using approved storage methods
n
- Labelling collection materials and storage containers with appropriate control numbers
n
- Maintaining the integrity and accuracy of collection information and locations
n
- Undertaking physical operational tasks, including handling, lifting and transporting collection materials
n
- Ensuring secure handling and preservation of valuable collection items
n
- Following workplace health and safety procedures when carrying out operational activities
n
- Performing administrative and data entry tasks using various computer systems and Microsoft Office applications
n
- Competitive pay rate of between$40.90and $44.58 per hour (depending on experience),
including casual loading, providing you with financial stability and recognition for your expertise.

About You
n
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
n
n
- Experience working with library, archival, heritage or collection management systems
n
- Familiarity with cataloguing practices and metadata creation for a range of material formats
n
- Understanding of collection management principles and collection control processes
n
- Experience working with archival, library, museum or heritage materials
n
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
n
- Sound Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
n
- Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate documentation
n
- Strong organisational and time management skills
n
- A commitment to workplace health and safety practices
n
- Capacity to undertake physical aspects of the role, including lifting materials up to 10kg, pushing trolleys and retrieving items from shelving
n
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
n
