Job Description
THIS ISN'T A JOB FOR EVERYONE. Manager, South West Slopes. NSW AUSTRALIA
n
McGuiness Farms is growing — and we're looking for someone who wants to grow with us.
n
We currently run a 60,000 DSE mixed livestock business across multiple properties in the NSW South West Slopes region. Our target is 90,000 DSE, and we're looking for another high-performing person to help us get there.
n
This is not a caretaker farming role.
n
We want someone young in attitude, energetic, experienced and ambitious. Someone who wants responsibility, wants to make decisions, wants to be measured on results and wants to learn how a high-performing agricultural business operates.
n
We see this role as the ultimate stepping stone.
n
Spend the next few years learning, performing and taking on increasing responsibility within a growing livestock business.
n
Where you take that experience next is up to you — senior management in corporate agriculture, managing a major livestock enterprise, or eventually building and running your own business.
n
We want to help develop someone capable of doing exactly that.
n
McGuiness Farms runs a large-scale Merino and cattle operation focused on one thing:
n
Producing more profit from every hectare we manage.
n
That means better pastures, better livestock, better systems, better data and better decisions.
n
We don't believe "that's how we've always done it" is a good enough.
n
We're prepared to invest, measure results and change direction when the numbers tell us to.
n
You don't need to know everything.
n
But you do need to be:
n
n
- Experienced with sheep and cattle
n
- Practical and capable
n
- Hungry to learn
n
- Comfortable with technology and data
n
- Commercially minded
n
- Prepared to take responsibility
n
- Willing to challenge yourself and existing practices
n
- Interested in why something works, not just how to do it
n
- Obsessed with getting better
n
n
Most important, we want someone who sees 60,000 DSE becoming 90,000 DSE and thinks:
n
I want to be part of making that happen.
n
You're looking for an easy job.
n
You're a conservative caretaker who believes maintaining the status quo is good enough.
n
You're not interested in measuring performance.
n
Or you're not prepared to learn from a business determined to operate in the top 20% of Australian livestock producers.
n
There will be long days.
n
There will be pressure.
n
There will be mistakes.
n
And there will be an expectation that you learn from them.
n
In return, you'll get real responsibility, exposure to a large and expanding agricultural business, access to the numbers behind the decisions, and the opportunity to develop skills that could accelerate your career by years.

n

n
2 hours from Canberra and 4 hours from Sydney.
