A leading higher education institution is seeking an experienced risk leader to take the reins on enterprise risk maturity. Backed by the governing Senate, this role offers genuine ownership of a risk transformation agenda and the mandate to shape how risk is managed across the institution.

Responsibilities

- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the risk management function, including the Risk Management Framework
n
- Support Senate and senior management to determine and maintain the organisation's risk appetite and tolerance settings
n
- Provide expert advice and assurance across enterprise, operational, reputational, financial, compliance and people risks
n
- Oversee risk training and workshops that strengthen capability and culture
n
- Deliver clear risk reporting to senior executives and Senate committees, including top and emerging risks
n
- Partner with Internal Audit and other second line functions to embed the Three Lines model
n
- Lead and mentor the Risk team, setting explicit priorities and ways of working
n




- Act as business owner of the GRC system, leading adoption and change management
n

What You'll Need to Succeed

n

n
- 10+ years' experience in risk management within a large, complex organisation, ideally with exposure to risk transformation initiatives or large projects
n
- Background in Big 4 consulting, mid-tier professional services, or large complex organisations
n
- 3+ years in a senior leadership role with ownership of enterprise risk, governance or assurance
n
- Sound knowledge of contemporary risk and assurance frameworks and practices
n
- Experience leading programs or business change is highly regarded; audit experience is an added advantage
n
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex risk concepts into clear, actionable advice
n
- A strategic mindset toward progress and delivery, comfortable operating with a degree of ambiguity
