Finance Manager | Sydney | Full-time | Commercial Construction

We are working with a growing Sydney-based construction business delivering a diverse portfolio of commercial, heritage and infrastructure projects across NSW.

n

They are looking to appoint an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and work closely with the Directors and broader project team.

n

The Role:

n

Reporting directly to the Directors, you will be responsible for overseeing the company's financial operations and providing commercial insight to support ongoing growth.

n

Your responsibilities will include:

n

- Managing the day-to-day finance function, including AP, AR, payroll and month-end processes
n
- Preparing monthly management accounts, financial reporting and cash-flow forecasts
n
- Managing WIP, project financials, revenue recognition and cost reporting
n
- Monitoring project profitability, budgets, variations and financial performance
n
- Supporting project teams with financial analysis and commercial reporting
n
- Managing debtor and creditor relationships and ensuring effective cash-flow management
n
- Preparing budgets, forecasts and financial models
n




- Overseeing statutory compliance, BAS, GST, payroll tax and other financial obligations
n
- Working closely with external accountants, auditors and other skilled advisers
n
- Reviewing and improving financial processes, systems and controls
n
- Providing commercial advice and financial insights to the Directors
n
- Supporting the business through continued growth and expansion
n

We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager / Senior Accountant who has a strong understanding of the construction industry and is comfortable taking ownership of a finance function.

n

You will ideally have:

n

n
- Previous experience within construction, building, engineering or a related project-based environment
n
- Strong understanding of project accounting, WIP, job costing and project profitability
n
- Experience managing the full accounting function
n
- Strong month-end, management reporting & forecasting skills
n
- Excellent attention to detail and commercial acumen
n
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with Directors and operational teams
n
- Experience with Jobpac
n
- CA/CPA qualification or working towards qualification would be advantageous
n
