The Graduate / Cadet – Reinforcing Steel is an entry-level development position designed to provide practical experience and structured training across key areas of Wire Industries’ operations.

The role will support the Project and Scheduling team while developing an understanding of reinforcing steel, construction drawings, manufacturing and production processes, customer requirements and project delivery.

The position is intended to provide exposure to various areas of the business, including production, sales, logistics, scheduling and project administration, with opportunities for increased responsibility as capability and experience develop.

Position Purpose

The Graduate / Cadet – Reinforcing Steel is an entry-level development position designed to provide practical experience and structured training across key areas of Wire Industries’ operations.

The role will support the Project and Scheduling team while developing an understanding of reinforcing steel, construction drawings, manufacturing and production processes, customer requirements and project delivery.

The position is intended to provide exposure to various areas of the business, including production, sales, logistics, scheduling and project administration, with opportunities for increased responsibility as capability and experience develop.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the role include:

- Assist the Project / Scheduling Manager with the preparation and submission of tenders, quotations and proposals.

- Review and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications.

- Extract and transpose relevant information from construction drawings for production and manufacturing purposes.





- Assist with reinforcing steel scheduling and project coordination activities.

- Liaise with customers regarding project requirements, delivery requirements and continuity of supply.

- Communicate project and scheduling information to relevant production, logistics and operational teams.

- Assist with monitoring project requirements, changes and deadlines.

- Maintain accurate project, scheduling and customer records.

- Provide general project administration and office support as required.

- Develop an understanding of Wire Industries’ production and manufacturing processes.

- Participate in training and development across relevant areas of the business, including production, sales, logistics, scheduling and project administration.

- Work collaboratively with internal teams to support the timely and accurate delivery of customer requirements.

- Perform other reasonable duties within the employee's skills, competence and training as directed.

Qualifications and Experience

This is an entry-level position and previous industry experience is not essential.

Suitable candidates may include:

- HSC school leavers with an interest in engineering, construction or a related technical career;

- TAFE graduates;

- current or prospective students undertaking an engineering or related technical qualification; or

- graduates seeking to commence a career within the reinforcing steel and construction industry.

A qualification or studies in civil engineering, structural engineering, drafting, construction or a related discipline will be highly regarded.

Experience using CAD software or reading technical/construction drawings will also be advantageous.
