MIGAS is proud to be partnering with Anglo American , one of Australia’s largest suppliers of quality steelmaking coal with a focus on safety and sustainability.

Undertaking this four-year apprenticeship at Aquila Mine , 32kmsouth from Middlemount in central Queensland, will give you the opportunity to become a trade qualified and earn aUEE30820Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician .

Aquila Mine has been developed as one Australia’s most technologically advanced underground mines, leveraging Anglo American’s advancements in underground automation technology, remote operations and data analytics.

As a full-timeElectrical Apprentice, you will gain hands‑on experience working alongside experienced tradespeople while beginning the journey to develop the practical skills and knowledge required to become a qualified electrician.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will learn how to:

- Install, service, maintain, repair, isolate, test, and commission a range of electrical systems and fixed infrastructure used in the coal mining industry
- Work with advanced technologies, including high-voltage electrical equipment, communications systems, and backup power infrastructure
- Apply industry‑leading safety practices and develop valuable trade skills in a real‑world mining environment

You’llgainhands‑onexperience across Aquila Mine underground operations, supported by a tailored training plan, experienced trade professionals, and offsite TAFE training.

You will commence on a 4/3 roster Monday to Thursday, starting at 5:30am and finishing at 5:30pm.

The apprenticeship will commence at the beginning of 2027 .

About You

- You will bring a passion for the trade and be willing to listen, learn and actively seek out current learning opportunities
- Ability to work well in a team
- You will possess a good level of language, literacy and numeracy skills
- A strong focus on safety
- Completed Year 12 before the apprenticeship commences
- Have a strong interest in electrical work
- Hold or near completion of obtaining a Certificate II in Electrotechnology would be advantageous
- Have the ability to obtain a Health Assessment under the Coal Mine Workers' Health Scheme, Standard 11 mining induction program, Drug and Alcohol test, and Police Check
