Bring science to life in Victorian primary schools.

Love science, love working with kids, and know how to bring energy into a classroom? For 25+ years Hands On Science has delivered interactive science incursions to Victorian primary schools, covering slime, chemistry, forces and circuits, and we're looking for presenters to run 90-minute hands-on workshops for Prep-Year 6 classes.

Who we're looking for

The kind of person who thrives here.

n

Presenters and performers with a science streak. Actors, entertainers, science communicators, uni students in science or education, science graduates, or early-career teachers. Energy in front of a class matters as much as the science background.

Confident with Prep-Year 6

n

You can hold the attention of a class of up to 30 kids, run a demo safely, and explain the 'why' in a way that clicks. A bit dramatic is a plus.

Available in school hours during term

n

Flexible casual work. You choose your availability. Great fit if you're studying, doing casual teaching, acting between gigs, or a parent wanting consistent daytime work.

Victoria-based, driver's licence and car

n

Essential. You'll travel from our Thornbury base to primary schools across Melbourne and surrounding areas with a kit of gear.

What the work looks like

n

- Pick up your kit from our Thornbury base and drive to a primary school across Melbourne or surrounding areas. Set up in the hall or a classroom.
n
- Deliver 90-minute hands-on workshops to classes of up to 30 students, Prep-Year 6. Same experiment set, different class each time, so you get sharper with every run.
n
- Follow our run sheet: intro hook, demo, group experiment, wrap-up question. Curriculum outcomes are already mapped for the teachers.
n
- Head office handles bookings, WWCC paperwork, invoicing and school comms. No marking, no admin, no lesson prep. You focus on the experiments.
n
- Return the kit to Thornbury, restock consumables and hand it back over ready for the next presenter.
