Workshop All-Rounder / Trade Assistant – Heavy Vehicle & Machinery

John C Beaumont Earthmoving (JCB) is looking for a reliable and hands-on Workshop All-Rounder / Trade Assistant to join our heavy vehicle and machinery workshop in the Ipswich area.
n
This position will initially be offered on a casual basis with full-time hours, with a review at the completion of the probation period and the opportunity to move into a permanent full-time position.
n
This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who is mechanically minded, enjoys working around trucks and heavy machinery, and is happy to help wherever needed.

About the Role
n
Working alongside our workshop team, your duties will include:
n
n
- Assisting with servicing and maintenance of trucks, heavy vehicles and earthmoving machinery
n
- Carrying out basic servicing including oil and filter changes, greasing and general upkeep
n
- Assisting mechanics and fitters with repairs and maintenance
n
- Completing fuel runs and refuelling plant and equipment as required
n
- Collecting parts and workshop supplies
n
- Washing and preparing trucks, machinery and equipment
n
- Carrying out basic visual checks and reporting maintenance issues
n
- Keeping the workshop and work areas clean and organised
n
- Assisting with other workshop, yard and operational tasks as required
n

What We're Looking For
n
To be considered for the role, you will need:
n
n
- A current driver's licence
n
- HR Driver Licence preferred but not essential
n
- Previous experience around trucks, heavy vehicles, machinery or within a mechanical/workshop setting
n
- Ability to complete basic servicing and maintenance tasks
n
- Good mechanical aptitude and confidence using hand and power tools
n
- A strong work ethic and willingness to assist with a variety of tasks
n
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
n
- A good attitude towards workplace health and safety
n
- Construction White Card, or willingness to obtain one
n
- Reliable transport
n
n
Previous experience with earthmoving equipment, trucks, trailers, diesel machinery or a similar industry would be highly regarded.
n
We are primarily looking for someone who is reliable, mechanically minded, practical and willing to get in and help wherever needed.
