Skillen Industries Diesel is looking for an experienced mechanic to join our growing workshop in Heatherbrae.
We’re offering something a little different from the standard workshop roster, a genuine 4-day working week while remaining in a permanent full-time position.
THE ROSTER
7:00am–5:00pm | 4 days per week
The roster alternates each week:
Week 1 – Monday to Thursday
Week 2 – Tuesday to Friday
The position consists of 38 working hours per week , with a 30-minute meal break each day paid at your normal base rate as an additional benefit.
THE PAY
$40–$50 per hour + superannuation
Pay will depend on experience, qualifications and capability.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This isn't a production-line servicing role.
Skillen Industries Diesel is a growing diesel workshop specialising in 4WD and diesel diagnostics, repairs, performance upgrades and tuning .
Our work is wide-ranging and can include:
- Diesel diagnostics and fault finding
- Mechanical repairs
- Turbo and injector replacement
- Intake and fuel system work
- Cooling system repairs and upgrades
- Performance upgrades
- 4WD and diesel drivability work
- Supporting our tuning and diagnostic work
We work across vehicles including LandCruisers, Hiluxes, Rangers, BT-50s, D-MAXs and American diesel trucks such as RAM 2500s.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for someone who knows their way around a workshop and takes pride in doing the job properly.
Ideally, you'll be:
- Trade-qualified or suitably experienced
- Confident carrying out mechanical repairs independently
- Experienced with diesel and 4WD vehicles
- Capable of fault finding rather than simply replacing parts
- Reliable and able to manage your own workload
- Particular about the quality of your work
- Comfortable working as part of a small workshop team
Experience with common-rail diesel, diagnostics, performance work or 4WDs would be highly regarded.
You don't need to know everything. We're more interested in finding someone with good mechanical ability, the right attitude and a willingness to learn.
