About the Role

n

Psych Connect is seeking compassionate, reliable and experienced Disability Support Workers to join our growing team.

n

You will provide person‐centred support to NDIS participants, helping them achieve their goals, build independence and participate meaningfully in their community.

n

The role involves supporting both children and adults aged approximately 5 to 60 years, including participants with high support needs, complex behaviours and high‐intensity support requirements.

n

Support may include daily living activities, personal care, community access, appointments, social participation, skill development and implementing individualised support strategies.

n

Travel Requirements

n

This role requires flexibility to travel between participants and their homes or community locations.

n

Applicants must be comfortable travelling approximately 20 minutes to 1 hour to attend their scheduled shifts, depending on participant location and service requirements.

n

- North Brisbane: Caboolture, Morayfield and Redcliffe

- Ipswich region: Springfield, Redbank Plains, Ipswich Central, Leichhardt and surrounding areas

- Gold Coast: Upper Coomera, Robina and surrounding areas
n
- Brisbane: Indooroopilly, Brisbane City and surrounding Brisbane suburbs
n
- Logan and surrounding areas

Applicants should therefore be comfortable travelling across different locations and understand that participant locations may vary from day to day.

n

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Provide individualised, person‐centred support based on participant goals, needs and support plans.
n
- Support children and adults with a range of disabilities and support requirements.
n
- Assist with personal care, daily living tasks, meal preparation and household activities.
n
- Support community participation, appointments,



recreational activities and social engagement.
n
- Support participants with physical, intellectual, psychosocial and developmental disabilities.
n
- Work confidently with participants who may have complex or high‐intensity support needs.
n
- Implement positive behaviour support strategies where required.
n
- Support skill development and encourage greater independence.
n
- Maintain accurate progress notes, incident reports and other required documentation.
n
- Build respectful and professional relationships with participants, families and support teams.
n
- Follow participant support plans, organisational policies, NDIS requirements and workplace procedures.
n
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and uphold participant dignity, choice and privacy.
n

Essential Requirements

n

n
- Current Queensland Driver Licence.
n
- Reliable, roadworthy vehicle with appropriate insurance.
n
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20 minutes to 1 hour to attend shifts.
n
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
n
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, or willingness to obtain.
n
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate.
n
- Previous experience supporting people with disability, complex behaviours, high support needs or mental health needs.
n
- Experience working with both children and adults is highly desirable.
n
- Understanding of person‐centred support and positive behaviour support practices.
n
- Availability for flexible shifts, including weekends.
n
- Strong communication, professionalism and documentation skills.
n
- Ability to work independently while also being an effective member of a support team.
n

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

n

- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or a similar qualification.
n
- Experience supporting participants with high‐intensity or complex support needs.
n
- Experience supporting participants with behaviours of concern.
n
- Experience with restrictive practices.
n
- Experience providing personal care.
n
- Experience with medication support.
n
- Experience with manual handling and mobility support.
n




- Knowledge and understanding of NDIS processes and documentation.
n
- Experience supporting participants with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
n
- Experience working with children and/or young people with additional support needs.
n
