The equipment you'll work on

n

This is a genuinely varied refrigeration role, including:

n

- Supermarket multi-compressor rack systems
n




- Commercial and industrial refrigeration plant
n
- CO2 and newer low-GWP refrigerant systems
n
- Large cold-storage and freezer facilities
n
- Individual condensing units and self-contained equipment
n
- Fast-cooling facilities
n
- Fruit-ripening and fumigation rooms
n
- Custom-designed display and storage systems
n
- Dry-age meat and cold-plate display cases
n
- Electronic refrigeration controllers and monitoring systems
n
- Older systems requiring genuine diagnostic and fault-finding ability
n

You'll have the opportunity to learn how complete systems operate, program controllers, diagnose both older and modern equipment, and develop into a highly capable commercial refrigeration technician.

The role

n

Your work may include:

n

n
- Fault-finding and repairing commercial refrigeration systems
n
- Servicing supermarket cases, cool rooms, freezer rooms and rack systems
n
- Diagnosing electrical, mechanical and control faults
n
- Compressor replacements and major component repairs
n
- Refrigeration and air-conditioning installations
n
- Warranty and breakdown service calls
n
- Repairing case, door and cold-room hardware
n
- Preventative maintenance and detailed equipment inspections
n
- Maintaining accurate job notes and asset information through Simpro
n
- Test-and-tag work where required
n
- Communicating clearly with customers and Alkar's service management team
n

The normal service workload is Monday to Friday, with participation in a shared after-hours roster. Technicians who want additional variety can also undertake regional supermarket projects and living‐away-from‐home work.

n





The on‐call roster is organised up to six months in advance, helping you plan around family and personal commitments.

What we're looking for

n

You will ideally have:

n

n
- Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
n
- Current refrigerant handling licence
n
- Relevant restricted electrical licence
n
- Current Australian driver's licence
n
- Commercial refrigeration service experience
n
- Solid fault‐finding and diagnostic ability
n
- Good workmanship and attention to detail
n
- Clear customer communication
n
- The ability to work independently while knowing when to seek support
n

n

Supermarket, rack-system, industrial or CO2 experience is highly regarded, but it is not essential if you have a strong refrigeration foundation and genuinely want to develop.

n
