HSE Advisor / Safety Advisor – FIFO/DIDO Projects

n

Australian Construction Group (ACG) is a growing construction services provider based in Newcastle, NSW, delivering Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Process Piping and Electrical construction services across a range of projects.

n

Due to our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and proactive HSE Advisor to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.

n

This is not a project-specific contract. You'll become part of the ACG team and work across our projects throughout NSW, with the potential for interstate travel as required. The role will operate on a FIFO/DIDO basis depending on project location and requirements.

We're looking for someone who knows their stuff, can build strong relationships with crews and supervision, and understands that good safety is about being visible, practical and proactive — not just paperwork and box-ticking.

About the role

n

Working closely with our Project Managers, Site Supervision and Safety Manager, you will:

n

- Provide practical HSE advice, support and guidance to project teams and site personnel.
n
- Promote a positive safety culture and actively engage with employees and supervision to identify and manage risks.
n
- Monitor compliance with WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, client requirements and ACG systems and procedures.
n
- Review and assist with SWMS, risk assessments, SOPs, work instructions and project risk registers.
n
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits and hazard assessments and follow through on corrective actions.
n
- Coordinate and monitor site inductions, competencies, licences, training records and compliance requirements.
n
- Lead and assist with incident investigations, reporting and corrective actions,



including ICAM investigations where required.
n
- Monitor project HSE performance, statistics and KPIs and provide regular reporting to Project Management and the ACG Safety Manager.
n
- Support emergency response planning, drills and exercises.
n
- Intervene where unsafe work or behaviours are identified and work with the team to implement appropriate controls before work recommences.

What you'll bring

n

Essential:

n

n
- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or higher.
n
- ICAM Lead Investigator training.
n
- Current First Aid.
n
- General Construction Induction Card.
n
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and construction industry safety requirements.
n
- Experience in a Safety Advisor/HSE Advisor role within construction, infrastructure, mining, energy or a similar environment.
n
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, supervisors, management and clients.
n
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
n
- Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
n
- Willingness and ability to travel and work FIFO/DIDO rosters as required.
n

Highly regarded:

n

n
- Drug & Alcohol Testing certification.
n
- Current Confined Space and Working at Heights qualifications.
n
- HRWL including EWP, Rigging and/or Crane.
n
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.
n
- Approximately 5 years' experience in a similar HSE/Safety role.
n
