To perform hands-on production and material-handling activities while providing day-to-day work coordination, on-the-job guidance and practical support to a small production team. The role will train and guide less-experienced workers, monitor work progress, and report production, quality or safety issues to management. This is a long-term position for a practical working team leader, not an office-based supervisor.

Key responsibilities

- Operate production machinery and equipment in accordance with approved work instructions, training and internal authorisation
n
- Undertake general manufacturing, assembly, material handling and workshop activities as required
n
- Allocate and coordinate daily tasks for approximately three production workers and monitor work progress
n
- Provide practical on-the-job training, instruction and guidance to team members, including current or less-experienced workers
n
- Ensure team members follow approved work instructions, safe work procedures, housekeeping requirements and supervisor directions
n
- Monitor basic workmanship and quality requirements and promptly report defects, non-conformances, equipment issues or production delays
n
- Operate a forklift for material movement, loading, unloading and positioning where authorised
n




- Assist with crane/lifting operations and operate relevant crane equipment only where the required High Risk Work Licence and site authorisation are held
n
- Coordinate safe movement and staging of materials and components for production
n
- Escalate safety, quality, staffing and production issues to the responsible manager/supervisor

About you

n

n
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, engineering, fabrication, rail, metalworking or similar industrial environment
n
- Able to perform hands-on production work and safely operate relevant machinery after site-specific training and authorisation
n
- Experience leading, guiding or coordinating a small shop-floor team is preferred
n
- Able to train workers in practical tasks, reinforce work instructions and provide clear day-to-day direction
n
- Good safety awareness and ability to report quality, equipment or production concerns
n
- Reliable, hands-on and able to work effectively with both management and production employees
n
- Valid Forklift High Risk Work Licence (LF) - preferred
n
- Relevant Crane High Risk Work Licence - preferred
n
- Dogging or Rigging licence/ticket - advantageous, but not essential
n
- Relevant trade qualification or practical industry experience - desirable but not mandatory
