About the role

The IT Technical Support Specialist serves as the first point of contact for technical assistance regarding hardware, software, and network-related problems within the organisation. The role is responsible for providing timely and effective support to end-users, resolving technical issues and more complex problems. The IT Technical Support Specialist will oversee IT systems and assets, assist with upgrades and fixes, and engage with employees throughout the company.

Key responsibilities

- Helpdesk Support: Be the first point of contact for users reporting technical issues.
- Laptop Provisioning: Prepare and configure computers with the necessary operating system, software, security settings, and network access ready for employees to use.
- Essential Eight Security: Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of Essential Eight security controls, including applying security patches, managing user access, supporting application control, assisting with secure configuration, and escalating identified security risks or vulnerabilities.
- Incident Management: Identify, analyse, and resolve unplanned service disruptions or outages.
- Troubleshooting Hardware and Software: Diagnose and fix errors with computers,



laptops, printers, mobile devices, and operating systems.
- Installing and Configuring Systems: Set up new workstations, install software programs, and update drivers or security patches.
- Manage User Accounts: Create and disable new user accounts, reset passwords, and manage system access permissions.
- Firewall Troubleshooting: Gather traffic data, check rules and logs, and test physical or network connectivity.
- Manage Software Licencing: Manage all software assets, centralise license data, track usage, and reconcile to ensure compliance.
- Monitoring: Conduct regular system and network monitoring to identify and resolve potential issues proactively

About you

- Two years of experience working in a similar technical support position
- Experience supporting companies of 50-100 users
- Experience supporting or implementing Essential Eight security controls, assessments or remediation activities within an organisational IT environment.
- Bachelor of Information Technology or Computer Science
