About the Opportunity

Randstad is proud to partner with a prominent Victorian State Government body responsible for delivering a major, multi-disciplinary infrastructure and public services program. We are seeking a proactive, highly organised, and collaborative Senior Communications Advisor to join a fast-paced and high-profile media and content team. This role plays a key part in shaping public narrative, combining creative storytelling, issues management, and cross-platform content creation to support public understanding of major state initiatives.

Role Responsibilities

n

Reporting to the Manager of Media and Content, your daily responsibilities will include:

n

- Strategic Communications: Developing and implementing comprehensive media and communication plans to support major project delivery.
n
- Content Creation: Researching, writing, and editing high-quality, audience-centric materials including media releases, key messages, Q&As;, and engaging digital/social content.
n
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating closely with internal project teams, senior stakeholders,



and external government departments to gather information and ensure consistent messaging.
n
- Media & Events Management: Identifying opportunities for positive media coverage and coordinating collateral for announcements, milestones, and media events.
n
- Approvals & Support: Managing end-to-end communication workflows, including proofreading, reviewing content, and coordinating formal approvals within tight timeframes.

Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

n

- Government or Infrastructure Experience: Proven experience leading media and communication strategy within a quick-paced, high-profile, or politically sensitive public sector environment.
n
- Exceptional Writing Skills: A strong portfolio of clear, accurate, and succinct content tailored to diverse audiences across media releases, digital channels, and executive briefings.
n
- Media & Digital Storytelling Nous: Demonstrated ability to capture positive media opportunities, manage reputation risk, and create compelling social media content utilizing modern engagement techniques.
n
- Stakeholder & Project Management: Superior collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, navigate complex organizational structures, and maintain sharp political acumen.
n
- Qualifications: A tertiary degree in Media, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related discipline is highly desirable.
