Located in the heart of Newcastle West, Parry Street Garage is a vibrant neighbourhood eatery known for its modern Italian-inspired menu, including handcrafted pizzas, pasta and Mediterranean-style dishes. We are now looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Cook to join our busy kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items consistently and to a high standard
- Follow established recipes, portion sizes and presentation requirements
- Prepare ingredients, including vegetables, meats, seafood, sauces and garnishes
- Assist with the preparation of pizzas, pasta dishes and other Italian-inspired meals
- Operate grills, ovens, fryers and other commercial kitchen equipment safely
- Monitor the quality and freshness of ingredients and finished dishes
- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic workstation
- Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures
- Assist with stock rotation, storage and inventory control
- Minimise food wastage through proper preparation and portion control
- Coordinate with chefs and front-of-house staff during busy service periods
- Accommodate dietary requirements and special customer requests
- Assist with receiving and properly storing food deliveries
- Contribute positively to a professional and supportive kitchen environment
About You The successful candidate will have:
- Relevant commercial cookery qualifications
- Previous experience working as a Cook in a busy restaurant or similar venue
- Sound knowledge of food preparation and commercial cooking techniques
- Experience with Italian cuisine, pizza or pasta preparation will be highly regarded
- A strong understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene requirements
- The ability to remain organised and work efficiently under pressure
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays
- A reliable, skilled and positive attitude
