Hipac Manufacturing is looking for a capable and detail-focused Draftsperson to join our team in Goulburn.
Working closely with Production and Research & Development, you’ll use SolidWorks to create and maintain the drawings and technical documentation our manufacturing team relies on every day.
This is a practical drafting role where you’ll be close to the manufacturing process and able to see your drawings turn into real components and finished products.
The Role
You’ll prepare accurate manufacturing drawings and technical documentation from approved designs, concepts and product requirements.
Using SolidWorks, you’ll create and update detailed parts, assemblies and manufacturing drawings, ensuring information is accurate, controlled and practical for production.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and maintaining 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks
- Preparing detailed component, fabrication and assembly drawings
- Updating existing models and drawings following approved changes
- Maintaining drawing revisions and document control
- Supporting Bills of Materials and component documentation
- Preparing drawings to support manufacturing, assembly and installation
- Working closely with Production to ensure drawings are clear and practical to manufacture
- Supporting R&D; with drafting and documentation for new and improved products
- Identifying drawing or design issues and escalating technical matters for review
- Maintaining accurate and organised technical records
About You
We’re looking for someone who is technically capable, organised and particular about getting the details right.
You’ll enjoy working with the people who actually manufacture the product and be comfortable getting out from behind your desk to clarify a detail, understand a manufacturing issue or see how something is assembled.
You’ll bring:
- Demonstrated SolidWorks experience
- Experience creating 3D models, assemblies and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings
- Drafting experience within manufacturing, engineering, fabrication or a similar environment
- Ability to read and interpret technical and engineering information
- Understanding of dimensions, tolerances and manufacturing requirements
- Strong attention to detail and drawing accuracy
- Good document and revision control
- Strong communication and practical problem-solving skills
Experience with sheet metal, fabricated components, machining or product manufacturing would be particularly valuable.
