Structural Steel Installer / Leading Hand - Run Your Own Crew (Sydney CBD)

You've probably been running the job on site for years without the title or the pay. This is the step up.

You'll lead a crew of 2-3 installing light structural steel, aluminium louvres and metalwork in HV (high-voltage) substation fit-outs inside commercial high-rise, data centres, hospitals and defence sites. Most work is Sydney CBD; occasional jobs range Newcastle to Wollongong. You'll take the drawings, plan the day, set out, install, and hand over - and you'll report directly to Mitch (Project Manager) and Cam (General Manager), not through three layers of management.

You'll lead a crew of 2-3 installing light structural steel, aluminium louvres and metalwork in HV (high-voltage) substation fit-outs inside commercial high-rise, data centres, hospitals and defence sites. Most work is Sydney CBD; occasional jobs range Newcastle to Wollongong. You'll take the drawings, plan the day, set out, install, and hand over - and you'll report directly to Mitch (Project Manager) and Cam (General Manager), not through three layers of management.

What you'll be doing

- Set out and install light structural steel (beams, columns, frames, brackets), louvre panels and screens from shop drawings

- Plan and run the day for your crew: sequencing, materials, plant, site liaison

- Drill and anchor into concrete; bolt and site-weld to steel confirm welding scope





- Coordinate with builders' supervisors and HV electricians on live commercial sites

- Own safety on your job: pre-starts, SWMS (Secure Work Method Statements), housekeeping

- Deliver a defect-free install and sign it off

What we're looking for

- 3+ years commercial site experience with steel and concrete

- Confident reading structural / shop drawings and doing your own set-out

- Has led or de facto led a small crew - you're comfortable telling people what to do and being accountable for it

- Trade certificate preferred (any recognised trade - boilermaker, fitter, carpenter, rigger, etc.)

- White Card and current driver's licence (required)

- EWP (Elevated Work Platform) ticket, Working at Heights, Dogging/Rigging licence - highly regarded

- Full Australian work rights

What you get

- $45-$55/hr + super depending on experience - leading-hand rate, not a labourer rate
