Design & Release Engineer – Automotive Interior & Console

Our client is a well-established global automotive company, we are seeking an experienced Design & Release Engineer to lead the design and development of Instrument Panel and Console components for future automotive programs.

This role is ideal for an automotive interior engineering professional with hands-on experience across IP and Console development , project management and supplier coordination. You will lead multidisciplinary project teams, drive component design and release, and work closely with Purchasing, Finance, Engineering and Tier 1 suppliers to deliver program requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Project manage the development of Instrument Panel & Console components for future automotive programs.
- Lead project teams responsible for component/system design and release.
- Apply GPDS processes throughout the project lifecycle.




- Coordinate projects with Tier 1 "Made To Print" suppliers for IP and Console.
- Drive project activities including costing, commercial analysis and supplier negotiations with Purchasing and Finance.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams.
- Drive project teams towards key program milestones and deliverables.
- Support design and process verification activities from concept through to delivery.
- Utilise 3DX, CATIA and Teamcenter where applicable.

About You

- Minimum 3 years' technical experience within automotive interior engineering .
- Previous experience in Instrument Panel and/or Console development is required .
- Experience with plastic part design and some metal bracket design.
- Familiarity with automotive design processes and systems engineering approaches.
- Understanding of interior material selection and performance, particularly plastics.
- Experience leading project teams through commercial analysis and supplier negotiations.
- Solid project management, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and build enthusiasm within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong commercial and business acumen.
- Confident managing conflict and driving results.
- Experience working with Tier 1 suppliers.
- Proficiency in 3DX/CATIA and Teamcenter is essential.
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
