About the role

n

The Senior Officer Assessments leads the assessment and review of applications under Division 5.1 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 on behalf of the department.

n

Key accountabilities

n

n
- Lead application assessments and ensure compliance with planning requirements.
n
- Provide advice and reports to support decisions on complex projects.
n
- Build strong relationships with government agencies, councils and project teams.
n
- Set assessment scope, milestones and targets, and monitor progress.
n
- Manage contractors and advise applicants on planning requirements.
n

About you

n

n
- Lead timely assessment of applications to support school building priorities and legislative requirements.
n
- Balance planning requirements with school delivery programs and influence stakeholders to support timely outcomes.
n
- Improve systems and processes to strengthen self‐assessment and achieve key targets and deliverables.
n
- Apply environmental assessment and planning legislation, including the EP&A; Act 1979.
n




- Manage a portfolio of projects governed by statutory planning requirements.
n
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
n

Essential requirements of the role

n

n
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Management/Environmental Science, Engineering, and Project Management
n
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education .
n

Renewal is not required after the WWCC expires, as long as you remain in a non–child‐related role. Employer obligations only apply while the WWCC is valid
