Armajun Health Service Aboriginal Corporation is seeking an experienced and passionate Drug and Alcohol (D&A;) Team Leader to provide clinical leadership, operational oversight and professional mentoring to our Drug and Alcohol clinical and outreach team.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of culturally safe, trauma-informed and evidence-based care for Aboriginal clients and families across Inverell and surrounding regional communities.

n

The successful applicant will play a key role in strengthening clinical governance, expanding community outreach, improving care coordination and supporting the development of service pathways for a future Aboriginal-led Residential Rehabilitation facility in Inverell.

About the role

n

As the D&A; Team Leader, you will lead a multidisciplinary team delivering withdrawal management support and psychosocial counselling within a structured 12-week episode of care.

n

You will be responsible for supporting high-quality clinical practice, strengthening client engagement and retention, and developing effective partnerships across the New England region.

n

Key responsibilities

n

- Provide clinical supervision, mentoring and professional guidance to D&A; counsellors, caseworkers and outreach workers.
n
- Lead clinical case reviews, multidisciplinary meetings and complex case conferences.
n
- Ensure clinical assessments, withdrawal management and psychosocial support align with relevant clinical governance frameworks and statutory health guidelines.
n
- Oversee client intake,



risk assessment, care planning and ongoing support throughout the 12-week minimum episode of care.
n
- Develop and implement targeted community outreach initiatives to improve accessibility and encourage early intervention.
n
- Promote culturally safe, harm-minimisation and trauma-informed approaches to care.
n
- Monitor client engagement, retention, service outcomes and clinical documentation standards.
n
- Build collaborative referral pathways with hospitals, general practices, mental health services, corrective services and community-controlled organisations.
n
- Represent Armajun in regional alcohol and other drug networks and interagency forums.
n
- Document service workflows, clinical protocols and operational recommendations to support the future Residential Rehabilitation project.
n

About you

n

We are looking for a skilled clinical leader who combines strong Drug and Alcohol experience with a genuine commitment to Aboriginal self-determination, cultural safety and community-controlled health care.

n

You will bring:

n

n
- Tertiary qualifications in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Addictions/Mental Health or Community Services (Aboriginal Health), together with significant relevant experience.
n
- Demonstrated experience in Drug and Alcohol clinical service delivery, withdrawal management and psychosocial counselling.
n
- Proven ability to supervise, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary frontline team.
n




- Strong clinical governance, case management and documentation skills.
n
- Experience managing service KPIs, client intake and retention within structured care models.
n
- Excellent communication, negotiation and care-coordination skills.
n
- A demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, health inequities and the Closing the Gap Priority Reforms.
n
- The ability to build and maintain effective partnerships across health, justice and social services.
n
- Experience in residential rehabilitation, post-acute care or therapeutic community settings.
n
- Professional networks and knowledge of the health, social and cultural landscape of Inverell and the broader New England region.
n

Key outcomes for the six-month contract

n

The successful applicant will contribute to the following strategic outcomes:

n

- Engage at least 60 clients over six months, contributing to the annual service target of 120 clients.
n
- Support more than 80% of clients to complete the 12-week minimum care plan.
n
- Deliver documented fortnightly clinical supervision for direct-report staff.
n
- Implement a monthly community engagement and outreach plan.
n
- Complete operational workflow and clinical governance recommendations for the Inverell Residential Rehabilitation project by Month 5.
